Re: Gran Turismo 5

Ive had it on pre-order for 4 years from play.com - was shipped a few days ago should be here in next couple of days

2004 Petter Solberg STi
Nope it was supposed to be a launch title for the PS3 when that first came out but Microsoft has kept releasing better products as they have been on the verge of releasing GT5. So they kept pushing it back 6-8 months at a time to improve their product. For example Forza Motorsport came out on XB360 when they were going to release GT5 which had damage for the cars. GT5 didnt have this so they pushed it back and re-wrote it to add damage to cars. Then Forza 2 came out along with Project Gotham Racing... then PGR2 came out at the next release date / Forza 3 at the next... so yer has literally be 4 yrs on pre-order from play.com
arrived.
danr552 on ps3 installed it (full install takes some time) hopefully will get a chance to try it out this evening
x_sir_x im going to be picking mine up when i get a chance. sure its not released till tomorrow but when i get a chance i will be getting it and i better not be dissapointed!
from what i have heard it is supposed to be amazing. some graphics can be what you expect but some can make it look the dogs nuts. picked mine up today havnt had time to try it yet but with a choice of 1031 cars it should entertain me. even though most of them are a different variant of the same car. online features look interesting like making your own track so can see me being stuck on it for a while. best racing game i have played to date must be race driver grid on the PS3 but will let you know how GT5 compares. have always loved Grid and the only possible issue i have is that the cars cant be modified but thats not always a problem because online noone can complain about the power difference as its exactly the same. i am really looking forward to sticking it on later and will probably be on most night so again anyone wanting to play the PSN X_SIR_X
Yes, graphics, the engine in the game, the physics, everything about it is better than other driving games. I've only played it for about 40mins last night and I can already tell it was worth the wait
Mine has finally arrived... what can i say... any game that has the top gear test track on it, nascar crashing oops i mean racing and go-karts as well as the normal hundreds of manufacturers cars is just class... had 2hrs on it this evening before the wife started on the guilt trip...
Looks like my son is getting a new game fae santa, Mrs claus can pay for it and i can play it
This is mrs claus Focus ST's rule!!!
been playing and playing and playing and i am officially hooked. the graphics are amazing in car view. the track realism is perfect. the choice is incredible. perfect moment - bugatti veyron down the nurburg straight doing 256mph listening to calvin harris and the surround sound making my living room floor vibrate...
just bought a lambo and mega i have a ST aswell anyone on PS3 feel free to add me for some online races X_SIR_X
Top game - just looked up the compatible wheels - found one for £79 locally so might go get one over the weekend to see how it feels with a steering wheel
PS3 Nicks 1. danr552 2. X_SIR_X 3. megadood
the G25 wheel is apparently really good and theres a little stand thing from amazon you can get to go with it. think thats what im going to be getting soon
I have bought the recommended wheel which is £119 on logitechs website but only 79 notes at argos. is really good and just what i need. G25 is overkill - had one for the PC which cost something like 280 at the time for my racing league that i run. Gave it away as a prize eventually as it was too hardcore and had too many buttons etc. I believe they eventually superseeded the G25 with a G27 which didnt go down well with the fanbase due to lacking some bits that the g25 had. I think one plus side is it had an rpm gauge of LEDs that lit up on the wheel itself which was nice, but not great if it lacks other things you need. Oh and g25 style wheels all have a clutch pedal too but its rare you will use it.

I have had a PS3 since then first came out and never owned a game for it (just blu-ray's...) However, I've just been out and bought GT5... gonna give it a whirl tomorrow night...
Is it free to play online with PS3? I have Xbox360 account.
