Tuning the WR1Now, I have absolutley no intentions of doing this.
But Ive had a quote of 3 grand to get the car upto 380bhp. Fuel Pump Reflash Injectors Different Turbo Full exhaust system What mods have you guys done for what result ?
Re: Tuning the WR1
No need to change the fuel pump, the WR1 has a upgraded one. Full exhaust system would that include the headers and up-pipe? You would need to change these aswell to get anywhere near 380bhp,if not the above mods your talking about 350/360. Also to get 380 would depend on which turbo you use aswell. I,m running about 380 bhp 370lbft with; APS sr40 turbo, APS tmic, APS 3"full exhaust system, APS caik, Lateral Performance headers/up-pipe, Power Enterprise 650cc Injectors, Tek3 remap. Price alone for the parts comes to about 2007 BMW M5

Headline figures are probably achievable with a HUGE turbo... but one of the best qualities of the WR1 would be thrown out the window... driveability! IMHO!
ok cheers guys, It was just an enquiry, with sam elessar he runs www.dentistmapped.com
He did the Autronics install and mapping on my evo, he is a bit of a mapping legend. He is partners with Evo 400 Dave who builds turbo's himself. Im not going to touch the WR1 though, il spend the cash on the Evo instead, I'l keep the scoob unmolested, which I feel will keep its value.
Heard of this guy
By all account's he's one clever dentist, very good at giving you a factor 1 grin But would still like to know what products he uses for the 380 for 2007 BMW M5

sorry bud, just realised that you had replied.
I havent pursued it any further as as far as im concerned im happy with the standard car.
Hi Guys
You will not get a better guy to spec and build your bits. I have known Sam for about 6 years now, his has mapped both my Scoobs and has been flowen all over the world for mapping. I wanted a safe car but more power and thats what i got He does hav a very nice Evo just now BBigman intrested to hear your views on teh Wr1 compaired to the P1, i am thinking of swapping P1 for Wr1 Cheers Dougie
next we'll find there's 2 dougettes !!
Doug, cheers.
Yep no problem. The P1 feels lighter, perhaps feels quicker to 60, less torque and you can feel that difference. In reality, both are very good cross country cars. You'll find the brakes better on the WR1 obviously, but id imagine if you gave them a hammering they'd be warped and destroyed in minutes. The P1 is slightly more nimble and flickable through the twisties. Aside from that its a very hard call to make, but I dont think there is any accounting for progression, new technology and development processes make the wr1 your most logical next choice,. Let me know about your P1 I may be interested in buying it if its not thrashed or bashed or overly modded Regarding Sam, he mapped my Autronics on my last evo, the car was awesome, he is a legend.
Hi bbigman
Thats seems to be what i am hearing from a few people. I test drove a Wr1 and i really didnt think to much of the power in it, but put that down to the weight of the car, it does sit higher than the P1, i think the P1 has a harsher ride due to it being 2 door over 4, yeah agree with the brakes, but if you want brakes then it has to be Ap's all the way. Buying the P1, you a dealer or selling the Wr1 already I might send you a link to the car, regards mods i aint gone mad as
nah not a dealer bud, ive normally got two or 3 cars at any one time though, got the WR and an Evo 5 just now.
But the Evo 5 is going so I may pick up a P1. I guess you have to remember that the WR1 you drove was standard ! If your used to driving modded cars then its never gonna feel as fast. A simple remap, decat and your gonna have decent power from your WR1, but to me these days speed isnt everything, though still important, the WR1 is smooth and quiet, you do find your going quicker than you thought when you look at the speedo.
I keep hearing about the WR1 breaks are better than the P1 breaks, but mine and plenty others came with the alcon 320mm kit surely they cant be better than these if they are i would be well impressed!!
My P1 that I had before I got the WR1 had the 330mm alcons, I never rated them that much tbh, the WR1 brakes seemed so much better than the P1 even with the alcons.
Ant,
Had an my99 uk classic, Then got P1 (0329), Then got a brand new WR1 (092), Then got a my00 UK Classic, Then got another P1 (0488), Now Sold.
Have to say that whatever the difference in the calipers between the sti's and the evo's the sti's dont warp the discs like the evo's do.
Lets face it the standard brakes are rubbish on both cars, but you can sort them simply with the correct discs and pads for reasonable road type driving. For trackdays you'll destroy standard evo and sti brakes in seconds !! I would then go for AP's no question. Previously: Everything With 4 Wheels over 300bhp

Not so sure about destroying the Brembos? Granted Brunters was a fairly short track but Gazman seems to have kept his running all day without any bother??
I could not believe how good the brakes were in gazmans car. I assumed they were AP's or something! If JP is Roland Rat, them I am Errol the Hamster... His number 1 fan.
Yes I was surprised too. I assume he has different pads but that is the only difference from standard.
Yeh sorry guys, I was just saying you will roast the standard discs and pads in minutes, of course you can upgrade them, I think pad choice is more important than disc choice.
Pagids on standard discs should last it out ? Previously: Everything With 4 Wheels over 300bhp

cheers mate, yes he has done a few for me already
