You'd have to be smoking banana skins to pay any more than 6.5k for a minter with full history.

The reason the trade is offering £3k is because they are the ones taking the risk. In the current climate, people aren't queueing up to buy these kind of cars. You boys need to wake up and smell the dog shit, the economy is cattle-trucked and people can't afford these vehicles as a toy.

I sold mine nearly 3 years ago with 50k on the clock for £12k, priced similar to others on Autotrader and Pistonheads that I could find at that time. I bought it for £18k and so I lost £6k in 2 years. I did shop around for others at the time and this was priced in the same range as the others I could find.

To say they are still worth £10-12k... 3 years further on is deluded.

Are you saying that these cars are depreciation free? Even with average mileage increases, you'd be looking at £2k per year depreciation looking at Subaru depreciation curves on What Car (others are available)...

You boys need to take your rose tinted binoculars off and have a glass of reality.

But they are still worth and selling for that price? As for depreciation, i agree no car is free from this, but i think the price has stabilised or reached a realistic second hand price of £9K plus, that people are prepared to pay, hence no real movement over the past couple of years.

McJohn was innocent on this occasion. It was another WR1oc member. One of the very original guys. I remember the look on the face of The Swede when he walked in to see us both near naked. Awesome.

Top tip: I'm very sensitive so please leave my mother out of it!

Sold mine for £9500 last September. Paid £10,500 two years previous. 60k, FSH, lovely example, but you can only sell for what they are worth, and they are only worth what people are willing to pay. They aren't cars that most mainstream dealers want on the forecourt. They're hard to sell, and it's compounded by the fact that people in the market for a WR1 generally know about the cars and want a nice one. RB320's will hold their value because of the Burns link, and the fact they were the last of the 'proper' Imprezas for many people. Evos are strange things, they seem to hold their value well and I can't for the life of me understand why! I don't feel cheated, I was actually really chuffed that I'd only lost a grand in depreciation over two years.

How can you complain at a thirsty, uncomfortable, expensive to run car being worth a third of the new price at nearly ten years old? Most run of the mill stuff is worth that at 3 years old!
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Agreed, never thought I would make a profit on my 1, didn't buy it for that reason. Bought it for the endorphine release and now it's all over my trousers, so now i've been taken to the cleaners.................Live with the boost and not the loss :toofunny:

I've been looking at the prices since Nov last year. 33 WR1's have come up for sale. The average mileage has been 64k - the average ASK price has been £9,375.42 (approximately). In that you have some outliers - at the 14-15k mark and then some trade in buy me now cars at the 5500 mark. Funny enough the best place to get a bit of a deal is the Subaru dealers as they appear to just price them at book + a little bit. But they go very quickly. Places such as the Performance Car Company hold the line at higher prices but their stock is good quality low mileage stuff.

Hard to know where they will end up, but I recon there will be a cross over from the RB320 at some point due to that hefty tax bill.

The mod question is a a double edged sword - someone that knows their cars v lets make this thing go fast and thrash the nuts out of it.

Whilst agree with the sentiments, i.e. old car - poor fuel consumption etc. reckon there is still an active market out there - just look at Performance Car Company they seem to have no problem shifting WR1's from £9-13K. Somebody must still love them and is willing to pay.

like anything, a car, even one as mighty as a 1, is only worth what a person is willing to pay for it - you just need to find the right punters and they must be out there just check the PCC website they seem to have no problem shifting WR1's - sold my one to them for £7.5K last month - it had done a tad under 80K miles. They have sold it already!
