Re: APs on the rear
Photos, Chris?? I need to see what I'm getting this month. Also, what colour calipers have you got? I have black/yellow on order to match the front. How do they feel?
What size and how many pots for the rears?
Anders Engine: FMIC with K&N CAIK, Oil Catch Can & MD321H turbo. Next mod: TBD
Brakes: Turbo Groove Discs, Pagid RS29's & Braided Hoses. Suspension: Whiteline front and rear ARB's, ALK
The rear APs match the fronts, the discs are bigger than the brembos, fitting was easy ,you have to cut a little bit off the back plate and then bend the back plate away from the disc slighty to get clearence, stopping seems a bit sharper now,and they do look good.
Rosy will get some pics up later.
Tech spec APs rear brakes 4 piston lug mount caliper finished in red 335x24mm integral park drum disc 12 curved grooves.
Thanks, Chris. Looking forward to the pics from Rosy
Did you fit 355mm 6 pots at the front? must look awesome with matching front and rears! Engine: FMIC with K&N CAIK, Oil Catch Can & MD321H turbo. Next mod: TBD
Brakes: Turbo Groove Discs, Pagid RS29's & Braided Hoses. Suspension: Whiteline front and rear ARB's, ALK
Yes 355s on the front,so they do look good, was up at RCM today and the 2nd set of APs were being fitted onto a black sti which looked really good with the red brakes front and rear.
Have you noticed more activity from the ABS system with large stoppers on?

This is the only pic we've got so far. Will take a couple more of the whole car, so both front and rear can be seen together.
No, we haven't noticed anything, only that they definitely stop you quicker.
Last year, I asked Prodrive and Subaru whether any aftermarket grooved discs existed. Reason I wanted them is because melting water would build up on the discs and when you hit the brakes first time after a minute or two, there would be NO REACTION AT ALL . Perforated discs might also have helped, but it's pretty dangerous as they put fine gravel at every junction here and those little stones can easily get stuck in the holes of the discs. As well Prodrive as Subaru said I had to live with the problems as such discs did not exist...
Prodrive do a 330mm kit with grooved discs. Glad to see they know their own products.

Mind you... I need to admit myself that I did ask them for discs that would fit into the 17" (as no 18" studded tyres were available yet then and I need those absolutely in winter). So they cannot really be blamed. If anyone of Prodrive reads this, my apologies. That being said, they didn't even mention the kit you describe above. And the discs on Chris' car at the rear clearly look like they fit the 17" too.
330/335 are max on 17's, 355/356 max on 18's
he brakes have been listed on AP's site for ages now, but supply has been a problem. I know that when Bro rang up for a set direct to AP the dopey receptionist said there was no such thing even though they were clearly listed on the site
Smart guys ! Anyway, so 330mm fits in 17" ? Sure the guys from Prodrive never told me that. How much bigger than the standard set is 330mm ?
Standard Brembo's are 325mm at the front and 316mm at the rear. Engine: FMIC with K&N CAIK, Oil Catch Can & MD321H turbo. Next mod: TBD

AP Racing do a 6 pot kit with either grooved or drilled discs.
Have done for years as my kits on it's third scoobie. There are kits for 17", 18" or 19" discs. Mines the 17" kit (330mm discs) 'cos it was bought for my previous car (an STi) which had 17" wheels. Started with drilled discs then thought I'd try grooved ones when they wore out.
