Sadly the WR1 has an entirely different ECU requirement on remapping. So unless you have already done one to understand the differences you will not gain the best from this.

Better late than never ...Allan you need to brush up on your ecu types a bit more, the WR1 ecu is nothing more than a Model year 04 item and the base code is identical being '992, it responds like any other version (least all the ones I have remapped have).

So is this BR guy mainly interested in mapping once you have had your mods fitted?

yes and yes, although obviously he can supply the bits on the site, and recommend other stuff he knows (through experience of mapping hundreds of cars).

Maybe he could supply advice on a reliable 400bhp WR1?

To keep things straightHmm lets get things right, Chris's car was initially mapped for running in by Matt and I, for final mapping Matt Clark drove and I mapped, after the first hour we had to return to base to replace the originaly fitted 650cc injectors as they were out of capacity, mapping was completed with 800cc items installed, we worked into the small hours to get it done.
Shortly afterwards Chris rolling roaded it at WRC Tech with the published results. At the Santa Pod meet following TOTB Chris noted some idle oscillation and, as he was to hand and I was in the North of England mapping, asked Dave to adjust. I believe that summarises the history, if anyone would like to question that I suggest you contact RCM or Chris. best regards Bob
MappingI thought I had better jump in on this one,Bob did all the mapping on my car and I would add,did a fanastic job. On the final mapping session Bob and Matt spent approx 10hrs mapping my car,not many mappers will do that,so if any one wants any mapping done Bob is your man.
Dave who works for motec did ajust my idle when we were at a drag meeting with Matt as the car was hunting a little at tickover speed. And getting back to wanting 400bhp,new headers,new exhaust,new turbo,bigger topmount or front mounted intercooler,and most importantly a remap should get you there, Mark will be better than me,at explaining the technical bits.The ecu-tek remap will take you into the 400+bhp as Bob has proved with his own car which he uses as a R&D tool. Good to have Bob on the site by the way.
Any possibility to remap a 2003 STi over the web ? (Or having an engineer spending a few days at the North Pole ? )

A couple of folks asked what could be done to the WR1, well its basically a MY04 Sti Euro spec with extra goodies which of course make it pretty special, the ecu is, as I've mentioned, the same as this MY of Sti and can be remapped just like any other, yesterday a MY03/04 car which uses the same ecu and ecu code ran 353.8 bhp and 320 ft lbs torque at the P1 owners club day out at G-Force, link to the rsults here ... http://p1woc.co.uk/postnuke/index.php?n ... 21&start=0
Owners handle is Neil P1, the car has the Janspeed exhaust supplied by RCM, 80mm induction kit (RCM), uprated fuel pump and a tweak to the turbo turbine housing to open up the breathing a bit, I remapped it to suit, boost runs 1.4 mid range dropping to 1.2 at 7000 rpm, so that peak power was made at 1.23 bar boost. Believe fuel was Optimax. Torrekens there are many maps relating to temperature compensation available to us tuners now, probably many more than when your car was mapped if it was more than say 9 months ago ? Having spent time in Iceland mapping is Finland worse ? cheers Bob

I have an STI 7 with PPP (older gems type) with an STI panel filter and a full Jap Innovations decat exhaust, I am also considering adding GT spec headers.
My car hasn't seen a tuner since it rolled out of the Subaru factory in August 2003. It's still box-standard. Have thought several times of getting the ECU tweaked, but I've always been told I also need to get the hardware adapted (e.g. the exhaust). And to do that, I would need to buy parts in UK, fly them in and fit them here, which is quite a bit more complicated already than just flying a good programmer in to remap the ECU. Not really after much more horses in fact (plenty for the conditions), but I would appreciate the car to perform in a more 'constant' way. Currently, depending on the temperatures, the thing has the habit of not running well, losing power, etc. Finland indeed is worse than Iceland as it's colder (but drier). We quite regularly have temperatures well below -30C which is the moment the car loses the plot completely. When it's that cold, my RWD Merc S320 can out-accelerate the scoob. Will PM you.
