front brakesRight guys
Early in the year I changed my front brakes. Brembo pads Black diamond disks. They are shite. Never been happy with them. Don't stop well and some times horrendous wheel judder, especially when braking hard. I guess this is cause I went cheap on the disks? Anyways, what are peoples opinions on the best disks to use on the standard wr1 set up? Service in a weeks tine and I want to get her sorted. Xxx
Re: front brakesI did exactly the same a few months ago, pagid disks from euro car parts and Brembo sport pads, not performing how i wanted them to at all, also get wobble through steering wheel when they are warm, matching Brembo sport disks is my next purchase!
Re: front brakesContact Alyn at AS Performance.
Ive have got Performance Friction discs and pads you wont get much better for the Brembo calliper it never pays to buy cheap brakes as you unfortunately have found out.
Re: front brakesAs above, PF discs and pads on mine too. Not cheap granted but luckily ive only had to pay for new pads as the previous owner shelled out on the discs
Re: front brakesHow do the p f disks compare price and performance wise to the brembo disks?
Re: front brakes
I don't how how they compare with brembo discs, What I do know is that they are better than the OE ones (not sure if they made by Brembo) and cheaper. So if you need to replace your discs it is cheaper to buy PFs and an upgrade, rather than replacing with OEs
Re: front brakesLooks like £600 for a pair Of front disks for the pf to me!
Re: front brakes
Haven't you got 2 piece discs big 'E'? Nice but pricey. I seem to be having the same problem with brake shudder. Had new godspeed discs in April after assuming the Pagid discs were warped, but the issue still seems to be there. Godspeed offered to take the discs back and check them, but it's a pain having to take them off and send them back.
Re: front brakesYou can get brembo disks for under 300 for the pair and even brembo sport disks for a little bit more. Gonna take a chance on those I reckon.
Re: front brakesI'm thinking the same tbh, will be speaking to alyn at as performance very soon, keep us informed how you get on
Re: front brakes
Yes I have and they are worth every penny.. I bought them from AS Performance..
Re: front brakesI purchased a set of Brembo drilled discs and I think they were fast road brembo pads, they work really well, I'd recommend getting some updated brake hoses too ! Got mine from Alyn at as performance too, he's a nice chap and will take the time to go through it with you.
Hope it helps with your choosing Nobody told me it was this brutal !
Re: front brakesBrembo HP pads from Alyn As Performance. Previous pad Ferodo DS 2500 both pads seem similar in performance but really to early to judge as I don't use the car that often. I can conclude no shimmy is evident with the Brembo pad so less dust build up?
Re: front brakesHi all
you could always get discs skimmed had this done on 368 new pads absolutely sorted brakes like new no wobble etc , had this on previous sti turned out to be buckled front wheel rotated to back sorted .. Last edited by paulscooby on Sat Dec 17, 2016 9:24 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: front brakesPut the brembo sport disks on three nights ago. Mustard. Like a new car. I can not believe the difference in them.
I will never buy chez again!!! Awsome
Re: front brakesSo you kept original pads? Have you got them warm yet to see if they judder at all?
Re: front brakesYes I kept the brembo pads in.
I am well impressed. No complaints at all. I am going to give it some grief now they have been bedded in and i will let you know the out come. They seem to be very, very good.
Re: front brakesReading some posts on other forums seems to be a common problem front brake judder.
If the discs aren't fitted true then judder will be expected after a couple of thousand miles. I had this problem with DS pads but have not experienced with the Brembo sport pad, although I don't use the car that often I do get some build up on the discs which can cause judder when braking, once cleaned off after a couple of applications all seems well. I would give the car some heavy braking to clean any shit off the pads and discs, before condemning
Re: front brakesHave used godspeed discs on rally car for last 6 years and only just changed them, with Brembo's on.
Have only just changed them as a precautionary measure- fair bit cheaper than PF and not sure much difference
Re: front brakesno offence to GS but there is a MASSIVE difference between genuine PFC rotors and other offerings in our experience
