WR1 #429 SOLDSOLD
Mark, you're going to love it mate - great to meet you and Wayne and look forward to handing over next week Last edited by Matty WR1 on Sun Aug 05, 2012 4:28 pm, edited 2 times in total.
should go quick at that price mate, glwts
it is better to have had a wr1 and lost it than never to have one at all.
No mate - it fixes up nicely with rest and was good for a month or two - driving a manual over any length of time strains out my knee cap!
oddly someone else has said I should try taping under my knee cap - thought they were taking the piss!!
what about paddle shift
Looks awesome mate, a credit to you! Sounds like you need a boring VW group car with a DSG gearbox. Or a C63 AMG...
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
Thanks Buddy - she's a cracking motor and loves to be clayed lol!!!
DSG could be an idea - maybe an S3.... not really thought about one of them, but I might just have to go take a drive I'm think GT-86 auto - i know not the most powerful of car and all that, but it's fun and honest.
No no no no no! You'd have to have the BR-Z, or does it not come with an auto?
There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
thing is mate - Toyota have offered a very very good deal on PX and on finance! oddly Subaru was pretty dissapointing?
Is there enough room for muffins in the BRZ?
Must get myself a test drive soon to see what the hype is all about.
LOL! yeah, i'd have to fold the back seats
mate - they steer well, and are very honest real world fun. the lack of power could be a challenge, but if you've driven Vtec then you'll know the score will see how i feel after an extended drive and can i live with an auto for my daily?
Sounds like you will need to rag the ass off it to keep it in the power band Civic Type R style?
The Toyobaru is generally getting great reviews for the drive, the usual nit-picking about the interior 'quality' whatever that is. Nothing's ever fell off my Impreza...
I love the thought of a rear-drive coupe with a high-revving engine and skinny tyres, it's the total opposite to 99.9% of lame-ass FWD hot hatches with too much grip and not enough fun. The Toyota and the Subaru are built on the same Subaru production line, and the only difference mechanically is slightly different suspension settings. Subaru will do an STi version with less weight, bigger brakes, an 8000rpm limiter and possibly 250bhp. Can't see that having an auto option though. They won't do a turbo version because "there's no room for an intercooler", but I bet it won't be long before the likes of HKS or someone develops a kit. Apparently in Japan they've been selling five times faster than Subaru predicted. Hopefully this will mean more money to develop the WRX STi! There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
I hope so Steve, it's all set up for more power - I reckon a supercharged version in 2 years
It's a fun car to drive - I drove one at Goodwood FOS up the hill, it was an auto and I really enjoyed it. Speedo wasn't up that high, but it was fun and I like to work a car out lol The 1 is an amazing car for the money, I paid 12K + road tax March last year and have never owned anything like it, and if I don't get what I would like then hey ho I'll stay with it for a couple of years and save some money
Not sure what I'd go for if I wanted a fast auto. I'd sooner have a 265bhp Leon Cupra R with DSG than an S3, or a mk5 R32 with DSG, great noise.
Lexus IS-F maybe? They're coming down around 20k I think... There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
IS-F is an interesting one and I know my way around the IS from owning the 2.5... will see how the finances go after selling the WR1 or PX it
Where abouts are you based Matty - Sorry about the leg -
Alright Megaman -not seen you around on the roads in a while. Just noticed this is my first post - * Megaman will tell you I am not a trader -(Megaman - I bought your back box off you) Hello everyone.!
Hi Simon, I take it all is well with the back box?
My car blew up last August and has taken 11months to get back on the road thats why you might not have seen me for a bit.
Yeah still going strong - all is good to be fair - just always looking out for something a bit more... So looking at the WR1s or Widetrack but its rare to find the right one -
How many miles had you done it Mega? How come it blew up? Were you at a track at the time? What did the good lady say to that when it happened? Where have you had it been repaired?
My car had done around 50k when it went bang. I was on a track when it let go doing 150ish at the time. The car turned into a red arrow with a smoke screen behind it which the passengers spotted before I did which was amusing. I think the cause was down to the car running too lean which made the engine overheat and eventually give way. The missus was pretty far from impressed as the RAC, green flag and the AA wont recover you from a track. So the wife n kids were stranded. The best quote I got to tow me to the hotel 10 miles away was around £200. So 'Chris 280' kindly offered to tow me using a rope that the owner of the track lent us. Scariest tow ive ever done given the lack of power steering and brakes but it got me to the hotel. I then arranged recovery from there back to my local subaru dealer KT Green to give me their verdict. Replaced the engine with an uprated 2.5L engine with stronger pistons, bearings, rods, pegged block etc. Its taken 11 months to get the car back in working order given the scale of the rebuild and there is a teething issue we are still working on but its great to drive. I got the work done with Adam at Autotecnica based in Buxton. They are certainly worth the drive over there and his rates are very good for the time he puts in.
Hey Simon, I'm near Oxford mate. Will be at rallyday at Castle Combe in a couple of weeks if you're there?
Funny enough - Im working down in Oxford at the minute - Im working bang in the centre constructing some student accommodation. - I have seen a WR1 drive through Oxford City Centre one time - could have bene you.
No not mine, but I know the one and oddly he lives right next to where I work lol!! don't see any for ever and ever and then there's one right next to where I work lol! his plate is pretty special as well, got a bucket load of miles on it
having a mini meet near oxford next week - fancy popping along? are you looking for a 1? just starting the process to take my plate off, only took a few days for the misses to get hers back last month so hopefully a quick process
Where is the meet at and on what day? Not Wednesday night - hopefully on the Thursday.
I am after something special but always searching.
