De-tangoing lightsHi, ive heard about de-tangoing ur head lights and theres alot of different ways of doing it but i need a good step by step guide, im abit worred about doing it as i dont want to get misty head lights after lol, any advice would be helpful
yeh Ive not done it yet either , going to give it a go in a couple of weeks ,, worst case senario , just go to the garage with ur fu@kd up lights
you only need to warm then up to soften the mastic...so NO oven required.
I used a heat gun that I use for heatshrinking cables, so not quite as hot as a paint stipper gun. Just make sure you take out all the tiny screws that keep the 2 halfs together, and prise apart slowly working the heat gun around. If you can clean it all off the new mastic is the way to go, but if not then don't worry too much. Just make sure your in a clean and dry place when you do it.
so im just taken the front lens off the lights and popping the mastic off and reapplying or is it safer trying to keep the same mastic on and maybe getting mist on the inside, all the help im getting very very helpful peeps
Did mine today took about 2 and a bit hours. Took front grill off as this made it easier to get to a 10mm bolt that holds front of light within a plastic holder..
Used a hair dryer to soften mastic....did passenger side first then drivers side was a lot quicker....Had a bit of a game trying to get the orange triangle out.Had to undo the tiny screw in the lens area and pull it out from the top.... Thanks to Rocko for the link and also the tips on text. Makes the car look sooooo better IMO Regards and be lucky ! Simon #226
