HiHello everyone,
I'm not a WR1 owner yet but have the intention on my return to the UK end of this month. I've owned Impreza turbo's since 1997, inluding an STi V Type R import for a few years. A question to all, what's the fuel consumption like on the WR1, I remember my Type R managing only 7 mpg when on SIDC Trackdays at Knockhill so I'm curious, and yes I'm scottish but that's not the reason I ask. TIA
fuel consuptionSorry, mabe my question was worded wrong... I didn't mean could I beat the type r's record on fuel economy in a WR1 .
I meant on a day to day basis how does it fair? And I know I may get all the "well depends how you drive it" comments but any sensible examples would be helpful.
I get 130 miles from a tank day to day driving from work and back. It's a 40 mile round trip on country roads and I cane it.
Motorway driving I get 240. A mixture of both gives 190. I don't have a WR1, it's a modded 04 STI. Hope that helps.
This answer is going to be of no use!!
I check the fuel consumption in my diesel... I just put Optimax in the WR1 when it needs it! I have honestly never tried to work it out!!
fuel economyThanks jaycee but that's the same stats I more or less had with the type R. A similar set of figures for the WR1 would be appreciated form someone.
My car is modded to WR1 spec. When I've been out with the wr1 owners from here we all get a similar mpg.
Don't forget the WR1 Blue colour reflects the sun better, keeps the engine cooler, better economy as an added bonus to the fact that you look cooler and hence you don't calc your MPG.... I know, I'm not helping!!
hello matey,
i usually get 160-190 from a full tank of optimax, thats a mix of driving in centrl london(sitting stationary most of the time)and a bit of motoway, the best run ive ever had all motorway was about the 230mark,the worst ive ever had was my first tank of go go which was around the 130-140 mark, hope that helps mike
fuel usagethnaks guys that's about what I was expecting, but had heard rumours of new owners beig shocked by the fuel running costs. Looks like I'll be havin one then... or should I get the new STI UK since it's now got free PPP
Thing is, when I first saw the WR1 in the flesh last year, I wanted the car but I wasn't keen on the colour, it's grown on me now.
I doubt I get anywhere near that. I will try next week as unfortunately I need to bring the car South with me for a week ready for the RR day if I bother to turn up!! Worse I have done is 3/4 of a tank from Macclesfield to Stourbridge (76miles)
Hi
Another fellow Scot Where about you from, i'm up in the Highlands. Usually over the 200 miles out of tank, not much town driving & no i don't drive like Miss Daisy either As for on KH i didn't really take much notice to busy having fun. But i can give the best idea as my girlfriend has a Type R(running GEMS ecu), on a recent big scooby run when it came to fill up she was on empty & i had just under 1/2 tank left. Maybe see you at SIDC days at Knockhill when you move back Gee
Im the same as wr1bro when it comes to montering fuel. Looks like you have your answers.
Hello Joseph
Hi m8
I get about 200 miles driving normal and about 150 givin it some stick. Always try and get to B from A very Quickly !
yeh
I was watching the gauge goin down rapidly must have done about Always try and get to B from A very Quickly !
Hi to a fellow scotThanks again guys figures seem reasonable to me, if fact when I had my Type R it was super unleaded and octane booster I used so was already more expensive than the WR1 sounds like it will be.
Hi to Gee WR1, I'm just outside Dunfermile, about 10 minutes form Knockhill racetrack so it's very likely I'll see you around. I'm due back in UK beginning of July, will just miss the superbikes meeting at Knockhill by about a week but hopefully will get to the next SIDC or trackday meeting, normally attend hot hatch days too, spectating only mind you. I'm currenty in north west India for 3 months and so i've not driven for over 2 months now. I've not attempted to drive here, it's cheaper to hire a car and driver all day than to take a taxi to the shop in the UK Plus I can't work out the rules of the road here at all. The night time road driving is the worst, all sorts of vehicles people and animals on the road, mostly with no lights (mind you the Elephants and Camels aren't fitted with lights as standard anway ) and half of the traffic travelling the wrong way on the road. Unbelievable Can't wait to get back to the UK and have a blast in the WRX, and hopefully a WR1. Cheers Guys
Astounded by Insurance quoteOK guys how about this one....
My insurance on a WR1 is 25% less than my existing standard WRX !! Mind you I have to switch insurers for it but still. Just helps justify the car change to the wife too
