I know we have had some natural stone experts on here in the past...
I'm looking for advice on products available to polish and then protect a marble floor.

Mate, do NOT do this yourself if you have no experience.
Marble is a soft stone and if you use some "polishing" agents, they will look good at first but they will eat into the soft marble and degrade it beyond economic repair. If I were you, I would accept you need to get an experienced local professional in and get the job done with insurance to avoid having to re-lay an expensive floor. I've had a go at polishing marble (on it's own, not in a floor) and you need the right equipment (like polishing pads embed with certain minerals) and a knowledge of the products market and what the products actually do... a "builder" who can "do marble polishing" is a sure way to arguing who f**cked the floor up.... Do it properly is my advice and pay the extra, get it all done by 1 person who cannot blame others!
Thanks for your comments Tiddles. I have contacted a specialist and he is booked in to do the job later this month... I might try and get some before and after pics.
When do you want me up tp "polish you off?" Crash bang wollop!!
Eh? Pointless you visiting... Couple of beers, early night and then you don't rise again till after midday!
Photos would be good to see the difference, it is definately a skill to master and not a "have-a-go" DIY job!!
