What do you use as a daily driver?Well the wifes maternity pay has just run out so were on one wage and looking at finances with a fine tooth comb. Obviously the WR1 is expensive to run but i wasnt aware just how uneconomical it is so thought id share this with you....
I thought id look at how much the fuel costs are, using a site i found on google (http://www.hypermiler.co.uk/mpg-calculator.html) I do 165miles to a tank, fill up for 122p per litre with vpower and put 54 to 55 litres in when i fill up. This website tells me the following. Your fuel consumption 13.64MPG Averaging 40.67 pence per mile So 12,000 miles would cost £4,880.40 So this begs the question of getting an el cheapo run about for day to day to save some fuel. Strangely I can get an old clio 172 that does 26mpg at worst and still save over 2k per year using that as a daily driver, thats before you look at diesels... I dont want to sell it so at worst will use it as a weekend car. So anyway this begs the question what do you guys all use as a daily driver??
i use the wifes jdm bugeye or the wr1 as daily driving and yes the fuel is bad and queezing as both, but its fun in them!!

if your only getting 13mpg you might find it helps to stop burying your foot in the carpet.............
seriously i've never found it too hard to get 20+, unless you have a fault?? ASPerformance

daily drives a mitsy L200 , fuel consumption not much better in this
you could always let mcjohn use it weekdays and you use his old smoker
Re: What do you use as a daily driver?
Get her back to work, day one stuff really Daily driver is the wife's Disco 3, we should be sponsored by Shell!!! The WR1 be safe in the knowledge that, short of strapping yourself to an Acme rocket, there's no quicker way to get from A to B.
I do 30 miles round trip a day in stop start rush hour traffic every day and have never got much above 160-170 to the tank keeping it below 3k rpm for the last 2 years. I assumed its just due to the car being very highly tuned and as such thirsty. On motorway journeys i can get 200 but never 220-250. Do you think I have a fault other than a heavy right foot?
That sounds like a top idea Although I wouldn't want to park the WR1 in Bradford... Mine never went near that place when I had it!!
My daily drive is a 2.0dti Vauxhall Zafira gota love it really got 7seats so
takes the Mrs & kids & keeps them out of the Scooby As for mpg with the Zafira really depends on at right huuuufffa, I mean iv been from Gloucester to Reading & back to Bristol on a tenner doing 70mph! something tells me I couldnt do that in the 1.
My car would use a tenner on the slip road LOL
it does seem excessive?? would have thought mid to high teens min....... ASPerformance

You told me about your daily start from your work when you see the red mist on the m606!!! That could be the reason you are getting such low mpg!!
My WR1 is my daily driver (7 days a week). Luckily I only do around 7.5/8k a year. Your mpg does seem pretty low though if you aren't nailing it everywhere/ using the air con all the time/ carrying a heavy load regularly.
I usually get 220-230 out of a tank of vpower and that rarely includes motorway runs or lots of aroads. L PS I have a horrible feeling the reference to heavy load is going to lead to lots of kilogrammatically challenged type jokes PPS I only weigh just over 11 stone PPPS Not sure about the wife's weight- I will check and see how much the mpg dips when she's a passenger
Cheeky bugger, id be fine with a ka especially if it has a sunroof...
But Corsa's are bigger than KA's......... forum/viewtopic.php?t=12471&highlight=
I got at least one ass cheek inside that bucket seat so i was almost there, although i was wedged for when i wanted to get out...
