Focus RS or TT RS ?

Postby The Swede » Tue Oct 27, 2009 1:00 am

Both have a 5 cilinder 2.5 engine with a proper bark.

Which one would you prefer ?

Anyone heard if you can tune these Focus RS's actually ?

TTRS does 0-62 in 4.6... anyone know the 0-100 and quarter mile?

I saw one of these in white the other day on the local strip "the Caister-bypass", tried to get him to have a little go, but he wouldn't play...

Are you talking about you now? 205 Dimma brings back "cum in pants moments" as a child.

My mate had one yonks ago when i had my 309gti (in ice blue)
Can't remember what the kit was but there was nothing like it in the area at the time. We used to swap cars quite often and the attention it got was stupid.
Had a massive rear spoiler which came in handy for pushing when it broke down though.

:lol2:

I'd still love to find a nice 309 GTi-16 though. 900kgs and 160 uncatalysed bhps :loony:

Back on topic,

The TT RS isn't popular in general because of its image, and for some reason people of scooby-clubs seem to always muppet the Focus RS. Hence my question to see if anyone would forget the image here and enjoy the character of either car.

I personally wouldn't mind either, especially after having heard them.

Love the look of the new Focus RS. I'd never be able to decide what colour as I like blue, white and green. Although I wouldnt take a green one to visit a client!

The TTrs is a very nice piece of kit - but it aint cheap

There was one lapping bedford when we were there the other week. Very quick, driven by one of the instructors, and sounded immense. Would be my choice by miles tbh.

There is a tuned Focus rs in evo this month, 340bhp with developments to take it to 370. Done by a company called Graham Goode Racing - just dont call ford when the gearbox goes bang!!

Yer GGR did my ST conversion to 330bhp and are good at what they do so it will be reliable running at that.

Having had 4wd i would choose the TTRS on principal as its probably quattro over fwd... but the RS is a good car... tuning wise they can go up to 400bhp but putting the power down is the big issue with them. Lots of tuners have maps that go crazy top end but low down its v lumpy and hard to drive... thats why most throttle them back to around 350 mark. The Focus RS on the dales run a couple of weeks back couldnt get away from a tuned ST and vice versa so much the same in reality.

With regards to the TTRS - no idea what you could do to tune it, no doubt MTM will come out with a stupidly expensive conversion for it :)

My dads got the TTS and that goes well, The Ride is a good, Much improved over the the TT he had before that which was one of the first new shape TT ! Its a really nice bit of kit and i sure the TTRS will be even better ! i would defo go for this over the RS !
In fact he took out an RS the other week for a test drive but didnt like it still suffers with to much torque steer and spinning up the front ! he said no comparison !
Always try and get to B from A very Quickly !

I'd have the Focus to be honest. My dad has the new RS and for the money it's a pretty damn good car and yes it does torque steer but nothing like what people make out. If the wheel's snatched out of your hand when you're only steering with a couple of fingers you deserve to crash

Only thing I dont like is the fact you sit too high in the seats, oh and the orange peely paint - probably the worst on any car to date for an OEM job!
Going round corners just got a whole lot faster...
