Nurburgring Trip 2009? Later in the year?

Postby danr55 » Fri Jun 12, 2009 6:55 am

Can I have a show of hands who would be up for the Ring later in the year. I'm wondering if the dates chosen are restricting numbers.

If so, can I have some pointers of months/dates people would find more suitable.

1. Dan any time except early September

Yup ! As already said before, all in favour of going outside the holiday season.

Anything after August.

Would be good to check if we can combine this with a trackday as the idea of doing the Ring again is like watching paint dry on the wall unless you do it towing a caravan behind.

Where do you travel from? You also live in the Artics??

But I agree. Suggest you organise a trackday combined with a good weekend out.

PS: some of us have less far to drive to get to Brussels than to Leeds...

Good luck :thumb:

Seems the norm on here that if people can go to a event/trackday on there door they may turn up, but to actually travel with a group of petrolheads/ friends to probably the most famous track in the world...and next Spa, and socialise for a few days seems it'll bankrupt people, this thread as been around for ages and still we cant get any more names down then the same ones... lame imho !

Mega, we do 2/3 a month at the moment. The evening ones are great, only about £100, you get 3 hrs tracktime and dont need to take a day off work.

I post various events on here but noone seems to be up for it tbh - these days subarus seem to get polished rather than driven in anger :?

yep shame isnt it.

Its not even as if they are good looking cars... they arent. they were built to be driven.

It doesnt cost £3-4K to do a ring trip. £800 tops for a long weekend all in. A whole week last year including all laps (35), hire truck, food, drink, day time excursions, track time at Hockenheim for me and the family cost less than £2000.

Yep I am up for this, based on last year I agree with Duncan, you can do this trip easily on a budget of £800 depending on the amount of alcohol you want to consume, last year was a great crack, cheap accomodation, plenty of beer, great company and an awesome driving experience.

For me the highlight of these events is the trip itself, driving over with a great bunch of people who have the same interests, you just don't get the same from a local trackday as good as they are.

The ring has to be visited don't listen to the Swede, just image the best driving road you can possible think of, then remove all oncoming traffic and speed limits 8) 8)

It's not about being the fastest, it's about enjoying opening up your pride and joy on an awesome stretch of asphalt, it makes Spa look boring if you ask me!!!

Come on people lets make this the event it deserves to be!!!!

1. Dan (anytime after early Sept)
2. Presa (as above)
8) 8)

Can I suggest that people who are thinking about this and waiting to see who else puts their names down before committing shows their interest now so that we can drum up interest in this event.

I then suggest, once a date is set from everyones availability, people can fully sign up to the event.

If anyone has any further suggestions please feel free to comment.
