You should find everything you could need on this site, and assuming its a standard car you have got yourself a very fast, reliable car there.
Bigman, explain why a modified car cannot be faster and more reliable than a standard one?

It is a fair statement that in standard form the WR1 is fast and reliable. He never made a comparison with a modified car? His statement is correct for the simple fact that a fast and reliable modded car is very much related to what was done to the car. You can't generalise on modded cars that you know nothing about. However, we all know apart from the knocking suspension that the standard WR1 has lived up well.
Please feel free to apologise to Glen as we ALL know you were trying to be cocky and slighly nasty to Glen. We also know that Glen is the sensitive sort!

Yes, its a fair statement that in standard form the WR1 is fast and reliable.
However by saying "assuming you have a standard car" he is inferring that if it is not standard it won't be reliable.
As you well know yourself this is rather a sweeping statement, and IMHO innacurate. I am merely offering Glen a oppurtunity to enlighten me - all in an aid to my own personal development.
When he does in a believable way i will appologise.

I believe you are incorrectly extrapolating his comment. He needs to clarify that it is a standard car to make the reliable and fast statement. Without this assumption the "reliable and fast" statement is very much dependent on the individual car!!
Just say sorry.

Mark why are you so protective of modded cars ?
I speak from experience, In general modified cars break more often !!
Modified cars are less reliable, im sure if subaru felt that they could send out the wr1's with 360bhp and they would last the 3 years that they warranty the car for, then they would off.
But we all know that would be unlikely running that power.
As soon as you start tampering with cars, surely they become less reliable ? you up the boost you can have det problems, you need a bigger intercooler, you need hotter running plugs, you need to remap the ecu, you need more fuel, you need a more powerful fuel pump, you need a better fuel pressure regulator, its a viscious circle or am I wrong.
My statement, was merely singing the praises of a standard wr1 which is a very good strong reliable car, that is very unlikley to let the guy down or blow up.
I know you work on cars and tune them mark, well maybe your level of workmanship and understanding of tuning etc is so great that nothing every goes wrong and your modified cars never let there owners down.
All I need do is go to TOTB and il see the finest tuners in the business blowing up there cars right in front of me.
So in answer to your jibes
yes a modified car can be faster
but NO I personnally dont believe a modded car can be more reliable.

This is the sentence we are interested in. Please feel free to apologise Mark.
Then you can answer Glens questions that he asked in repsonse to you extrapolating what he said.

Now you are making the statement, I must disagree with you.
Subaru build cars to tolerances of which they are happy with. It is possible however to mod a car and use better parts and ultimately end up with a more reliable car. However, this comes at a great cost.
My car for example should be "reliable" but it will indeed be less reliable as we are running it closer to the safe limits of the internals. However, when we go interal I would like to think it will be just as reliable as a standard WR1 even though it will be pushing out an extra 100bhp.

I did look twice at Glen's welcome on board
I can see Glen's point with some tuners
But I did feel the same as Mark also....we agree
The quality of some of the internal componants on a out of the box subaru is shite
That come's from a ex SWRT/ Prodrive engine builder.
So if modded the correct way with internals to run at a sensible power, not TOTB extreme, I'd say more reliable, especially if Mark built it

Yes ok Bro, I will go with this also
This was never meant to be any sort of vendetta against tuned WR1's though, whilst I disagree with modding a WR1 as I see it as a special edition impreza that should be left alone.
I am not against modding atall, as I have spent fortunes modding over the years myself probably enough to buy a new two bed house.
And if I buy a standard sti or an evo again im sure id mod it aswell lol.
