I wouldn't bother getting Prodrive ones anymore at all. The way they treat their customers... :shake:

I'd go for the Scott Lowe ones. They come from the same supplier anyway, but as he doesn't carry stocks like Prodrive does, you'll get the new ones with UV treated materials.

Quite like the carbon look ones though. 145 quid or something for 4 :thumb:

Carbon effect and 23G do not go together in my humble opinion.

The blue-ish shine of the 23G and the silvery bits in the carbon might swear. But as I am colourblind and according to me you guys are all driving silvergrey cars...

Marky Mark/Swede/Dan...anybody.....

Not being funny here....but am I correct to say that Mud Flaps are there to protect the arches from gettin mashed up? :? ....If not, what is the actual technical reason why these are used on cars?

My special "1" aint got any so am def considering having these put on provided there is a good and logical explanation behind em.....Any pointers would be appreciated!

That is like a red rag to a bull. Talking of red rags:-

Flaps stop tampons falling out? If your woman didn't have flaps and she was running, you might get it in the face.

Flaps protect the side of your car from chips and tar splats. Well worth it. They also reduce water spray for the lovely drivers you have just overtaken!

Wheel turns, shit shoots up from wheels and hits the mudflaps instead of your car doors? Go to a muddy feel and drop you clutch at 7k revs. When you get out the car the mud will show you the areas it is likely to 'help' protect.

JP WR1 wrote:Reduce Water Spray??...hey??

When driving along a motorway your tyres spray water behind you? With flaps there will be less spray as the water hits the mudflaps and runs down.

I'm not convinced that mudflaps fit into a techy category so you should be ok... lets face it, I'm NOT a techy!

JP,

I didn't have flaps for the first two years on the scoob.

Had no issues with it getting dirty (in fact, it was getting as dirty after the flaps as it did before) and found them an unnecessary appendix that would get ripped off when hitting a kerb.

Issue was that after 2 years, the sills and underside of the front doors were peppered very badly by the fine gravel they put on the roads.

So I fitted flaps.

Same on the Evo, where the underside of the front door is less curved in and the sills are sticking out less, but where the rear bumper seems to fill up with the snow thrown up by the rear wheels.

I'd say they're good as general protection against little stones and tar being thrown up by the wheels.

If you fit any, fit them in the 'high' position. That way:
- They stick out more to the outside and protect the side of the car better
- You have less chance of them catching between the wheel and the kerb and ripping them off.

If you fit them in the high position IMHO they look daft. I have mine in the low position and the sides of my car are mint. Thus I conclude there is no advantage to fitting in the low position unless you regularly try and drive up kerbs :loony:

Sandy,

Per Bro's post above, would the STI be better?....or can i get away with the WR1 (Prodrive?) - Im fitting it for protection more than show purpose.

Also who is Scott Lowe?.....Id most prob get these fitted as I dont want to ponce around with it....

Shut it, Bro. They look OK in high, see pic below.

You never even use your car when it's wet ! :gay:

And 23G is a gay colour !

JP,

Scott Lowe is an independent distributor who basically chose some suppliers to make mudflaps he distributes, generally with whatever logo on you wish.

The Prodrive ones come from the same supplier as he uses and are the same material.

I paid about 300 gbp for the 4 Prodrive ones in fact.

Try www.scottlowe.co.uk

Tell him we sent you. He's a very friendly guy. Knows Spikey and myself.

Oh ok, if someone tells me to shut it then I must always oblige...?

You really need to think were you are before slagging 23G. You are so so boring.

Regards looking OK... if you are happy with OK then fit high. The fact is that fitting high offers NO EXTRA protection so WHY fit them high. Why not fit them in the position that you prefer. Cock head.
