Heat shield problem after decat help??

Postby Super si » Mon Mar 11, 2013 4:43 pm

Had a decat fitted by scooby clinic recently & after a week my steering wheel was getting wedged when turning right, took to local garage & a heat shield was loose & rubbing against my steering in engine. Apparently it's because when they take standard cat off this heat shield bolts to it. Has anyone else had this problem & what did you do? My local garage tightened bolts back up & tried to bend bracket out of way but still hitting. Anyone removed it? Is it the up pipe heat shield?? Easy to take off cut & put back on? Off the Tfs at weekend & need to get sorted

you would normally remove the lower one and re-shape the upper...........

no idea why your fitter hasn't done this originally???

Think I have sorted it, jacked it up today. There's a bracket that's spot welded to the heat shield that was touching knuckle joint on steering so bent it out of way hopefully will stay in place
