Postby WillyWonker WR1 » Tue Dec 06, 2011 12:56 pm

Right where do i start, i`ve had the car 7 months now and im thinking of getting a big boy loud exhaust and and a bit of air flow and some re-mapping,im not after uber BHP but want a little more punch from the girl, i will be getting done a bit by bit but i`m just trying to find out what`s a better combo and weather people have used the normal named company`s like Blitz and stuff so help would be great thanks people, ive JPS Motorsport down here and they have turned my Type -R in the past but this car is special, o and its had it 60k service with no majors worries so she strong

Uprated panel filter (Cosworth), free-flowing exhaust (Revolution) and a remap will see you with a nice, all-round package with plenty of punch.

I'd make sure you do plenty of research before you start tuning as you may end up regretting any bit-part mods...if you get advice, check it with others!! Above all, have a plan and stick to it!

Avoid using Harvey is the first tip

To get the most from the standard turbo you need to sort out the exhaust system. If you change the exhaust to a 3" fully decatted system and go for the gt spec 2 headers, flow matched uppipe an downpipe + remap id expect to see noticeable performance gains.

Standard airbox on a wr1 is great so no need for induction kits until 400bhpish.

If you want maximum volume from an exhaust then RCM do a team ice pipe which is seriously loud. Not my cup of tea but does the job nicely. :)

IME if you want something that flows correctly and isn't stupidly loud then you wouldn't go wrong with a Milltek system...........

personally i wouldn't use Blitz as apart from making a noise (nice if you like that sort of thing) they dont tend to be very effective in flow/design

Something you want to avoid at all costs. Get a turbo from Harvey if you want to experience surge . Basically the car isnt 'breathing' properly for what ever reason causes power to be stuttery when it comes in rather than being smooth and progressive. Not nice to drive.
