I think they make a small difference it certainly sounds better.
I have a Green Panel filter in mine.

Posted: Sun Apr 03, 2011 2:37 pmI have an sti one but they are rather expensive now and the down side is you can't clean and re use them, i won't be getting another one due to the huge price jump (50-60 now i paid 35)
The best ones i've seen it tests using a flow bench are the Do Luck panel filters available from likes of Sumo Power (main importer of Do Luck products) and they are very reasonably priced.

Posted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:17 amI swapped the standard one for a green one and had rolling road tests before and after (although a few months apart).
There was no BHP increase, well, there was, but it was 1bhp which could have been to do with anything.
however, looking at the graphs, before the green air filter, the power dropped away after a certin amount of revs, with the filter, it corrected it and made it a more balanced curve. I have got the graphs saved somewhere if you want to look.
After the green one was fitted, I could then hear the recirculating dump valve going off where I couldn't before.

Yes its quite ok for a panel filter without remap, but induction kits do need remaps.

But you won't need to buy another filter again you just clean and reuse the Green one when it gets mucky.

You can buy filter cleaning kits that come with a spray on oil. When re-oiling it be careful not to over oil it as the oil can be draw through the filter with the air being sucked into the engine where it sticks to the hot wire of the air flow meter and causing wrong readings from the meter and your car to run like poo.

Posted: Fri Apr 08, 2011 8:23 pmGot my Green Cotton panel filter today and went for a quick drive, a bit awkward getting it into the box and getting the cover back on but the turbo seems to spool up a bit quicker now.

The guy who owned my car before me had a unipart one fitted at the service just before i picked the car up. binned that immediately, as I can't imagine using shite non-performance parts does any good. K&N now for me...
