Rear shocks knock!

Hi all,Ive got the draeded rear shock knock.Just throwing it out there;Has anyone fitted after market shocks? Ive been advised to go with coilovers.Any thoughts? What sort of dosh am i looking at?Any advice will be appriciated.Im based in Kent.Any recommendations? Many Thanks Cozzy :wink:

Yeh Bin the Shocks mate and get coilovers


All depends on your budget .... you can spend anything from 600 to 2000

BC coilovers have good results .. but if it was me id got for there

we have had good results fitting aftermarket KYB's if you dont want to get into the 500+ budget.............

Spray some white lithium grease on the shocks. This free's them up for 6 months or so, before they start to knock again. Should give you time to save up for some shiney coilovers :D

Thanks for the feed back guys.I aint had anyone tell me any different to you Rocko, so coilovers it is.Thanks for the links mate,and by the way loving watching the progress of the beast!! When shes finished its gotta be you and ROSY B on the quarter mile! 8) I'd pay to watch.

hi mate got the kyb s (£280 ish) dont have the spare dosh yet to go coilover and like the "bog standard" car only been to brunters and they did ok.dont know how long theyll last but well see. :thumb:
it is better to have had a wr1 and lost it than never to have one at all.

hi there cozzy , i bought a set of the kyb rear shocks , they where easy to fit aswell had them on for 5 months now :D

got a set of the BC ER series, and really impressed with them so far, had them all changed over in a day and took a few days to settle down before finally setting them up and getting the geom re-done.

Now the snow is here, I have jacked it up slightly and softened them up a tad also.

Just over 1k, but definately worth it so far.

Only downside is that with the adjustable top mounts there is a definate increase in NVH due to the spherical bearings and the plate shape.
