Wow...I would to be doing something like this, and your spec sounds very similar to my config too - but I am not into that much detail yet. The 2.1 stroker kit is defo the way to go.
Only difference is that I hope to build my own block - just for a laugh and see what it involves...can't be that hard can it? Just get the machine work done before hand. I presume FMIC and aftermarket ecu are on the list too....what injectors you going for? keep it up to date matey....got my eye on this project for sure... should be stunning afterwards! good luck.
I already have a APS steath Front mount .. Just got to customize the hard pipes .. And i run a Simtek , And for the injectors .. i got rcm 800 but goin to change for 1000cc ones
rocko its taken a while mate but bloody hell i bet its worth it!
sounds sweet bud get some vids uploaded
this is going to be a right "beast" look forward to the results from the "billet" turbo im assuming dave rowe will be mapping it?
cheers Rob . . Yeh dave will be mapping .. Aint heard of him for a while i guess his busy man ..
great thread keep us updated
Re: Project 500 + WR1
Rocko, what kind of approx cost is involved in getting to this satge
Well if your willing to ring around to get decent second hand cases and heads .. you can shave ££££
example .. decent Spec c heads inc cams £650 New from japan with out cams just bare heads £1700 .. the stroker kits can be found on some sites for around £1200/ £1500 supply only .. which includes pistons, rods, crank,ACL bearings, seal kit You can get a drive in drive out option for around 5k .. plus your twisted kit and then turbo ... My budget went out the window ages ago lol ...
Fook me rocko you don't do things by half
I think you want to be the WR1 daddy Can't wait to see this when it's finished,
Lol Rosy B will Always be the daddy .. in my eye's ... Fair play to them as we all look up to them as a dream ... I was chatting to them sat @ jap fest ... they are so gennuine nice couple ... And for fook sake the both colleting there pension and blasting around in a awesome car lol .. I'll know right this min his out there cleaning his spokes .and getting another coat off werksatt lol
Yer thats is some machine ROSY B Great people rosy and chris, What spec was p060064h wr1? That was crazy lol
in my book you are doing it the right way...I am not sure I would trust or even want a second hand block in my build.
For sure it has got to be treated carefully to start with until it has gone through enough heat cycles to make sure everything is OK. But if you are spending that kind of cash in other areas too - an extra 2-3k to make sure it is safe is fine with me. Reckon 8-10k would see you get somewhere close or at least i hope so!!....more if you then start putting fancy bits on like aeroquip fixings and hoses. Truely, truely jealous mate!!! but the best of luck to you and I hope you get what you wanted at the end of it...enjoy the journey, because for me that would be 70% of the kicks just doing the build.
They are a lovely couple and the spokes have been cleaned werstatt next, ready for JTS at Silverstone this sunday. Heaven can wait....I'm playing with my scooby.
Love that turbo mate , Thats going to be mental when that boost kicks in, My little one is peppa pig daft aswell lol
Right guys .. Just an up date on were the guys are at the min .. Drop my car off last week .. Which Spence wasted no time and getting stuck in ...
As you can see The old Motor is out Also nick at Advance has been preping my heads to machine and fit new supertech vavles, Also he Recons buy the end of the week my motor will be built .. Then i guess it will get sent too spence to re fit new motor ... Cheers Guys loads more to come ...!!! SOON
yeh i am but enjoyin all this at the mo never had out done like this before .. Its all so intresting ...
And the guys keeping me posted every step of the way ..
looks really well done, and I bet at a fraction of the cost of 'the other' garage.
very professional....fantastic.
Running in can be fun we found, getting to know the car,the different engine sound,it will still be quick off boost, the turbo sound, the waste-gate sound, its window down and stereo off
Heaven can wait....I'm playing with my scooby.
A little up date guys ...
Engine is fully built and has left Advanced Automotive and Its landed at CPA with spence And Nick to start fitting from tues on wards ... I also receveed my Garrett GT30 R Billet Which I've now sent to be Ceramic coated along with My Rotated Downpipe But still loads to do in the engine bay and custom made parts and some trick parts ...
I don't know much about advanced automotive but what i can see from the pics that you have probably made a decent choice.
They are using plenty of molybdenum disulphide assembly grease on the head bolts and cams which is a good sign. A lot of so called engine builders might just put a squirt of oil in there which is not as good on initial start up as moly, or a moly/oil mix. If JP is Roland Rat, them I am Errol the Hamster... His number 1 fan.
trust me marky ... I done sh## loads of home work on choosing my builder ... They come highly recomened from ... The bset subaru tuner's Also they have done lots of stroker kits too ... So i knows its in good hands ... there are well busy ... pasty's is next once mines see day light again ... cheers for looking Rocko
