What Modifications can you carry out on a WR1 ?

Not wanting to invalidate the lovely 3yr warranty.

I have fitted Privacy Window Tints to the WR1, tinting just nicely.

Any other members added any Dealer Friendly mods ?

I've done the Morrette look alikes from the option list. I'm not a fan of big lights, hated the tango orange bit and I'm too chicken to do the gas mark 5 for 1/2 hour de-tango thing.

They're here.

I think they're very tasteful in pale blue. Shame I can't do pickies......

mm not sure mate, if they plug into the diagnostic port etc they may ?

I think its a Local Dealer thing.... If they supply and install them they would warrant them.

Brian, as I'm new to the modified car thing could you shed some light on the warranty issue...

Am I right in assuming that any dealer fitted mods to my car are fine and the warranty remains intact, whereas any third party back street garage mods would invaildate the warranty?

What's the dealer's view on fitting non-subaru supplied parts? would they be OK or do the parts need to be supplied from subaru direct?

Gearing up for a modding November :D :D :D :D :D

Liam, it depends on the Dealer,

Some dealers are strict in saying that only mods from the official subaru catolouge can be added.

Some dealers are ok with different kind of mods depending on what they are.

If they can see a potential problem with a mod, for example a boost controller, or re map, they would not carry out the mod.
As something like this - if not carried out profensionaly will and can easily destroy your engine.

At the end of the day its really up to your local dealer, Headlight conversions, front splitters, brake upgrades, window tints. Im sure they would not mind at all.

Its always best to check though and work the mods with the Dealer.

Ive heard stories of, Decats, Re maps, etc and the Dealer still maintains the warranty !

Hope that helps a bit mate.

I was told by a local (ish) dealer that i would be ok to have BF Defi guages fitted as they were more of a monitoring device.

I know this sounds stupid but i didn't ask at the time. LOL

I have a feeling they would do as i've heard they have added non Subaru/Prodrive items on for other people.

Think it totally depends on how lenient the dealer, as the warrantly is maintained by them on a local level.

Defi BF's are the next for me - they will look excellant against the black fascia panels on the dash - plus removing that annoying little clock!

Will you get the ones with darker backing or the lighter ones?

The WR1 is tuned to perfection. folks.

as said before .. its not a wrx ,, so that a induction kit can be fitted with a de cat to see a extra 50 BHP its allready at the max !!

A Decat dosent make any differnce on its own

A Induction kit dosent really make any difference on its own.

to make some serious power gains you really have to throw some money at it !!!!

Pro Drive have really tuned the WR1 to the max,, its been designed to be slow -- to take granny out to the hospital ;) and Fast for the odd track day or back lane stint ;)

musnt forget its a little 2.0 engine and Subaru want to maintain a 3 years warranty.

I know there are a few mods that will take the 2.0 higher, but at the end of the day, why did you buy the WR1 ???

Its one of a kind !!

I'm leaving mine as is. I'll end up getting bored with the 320bhp in the end just as i did with my previous WRX, which i kept standard.

If it was 400bhp i'd get use to that in the end anyway!
