Brakes/Tyres

Postby STEVIE SCOOBY DEE » Wed Jun 17, 2009 6:51 am

As per fellow WR1 Owners
recommendations I am
getting the following fitted.

Performance Discs/Pads on Front & Rear.
Goodridge Brake Hoses Front & Rear.
Dot 5.1 Silicone Brake Fluid.

Alloys going for a Refurb
Yokahama Prada's getting fitted after Refurb

Service & Geometry Set Up

Possibly the Blitz NUR Spec R back box.
(Cant make my mind whether to do it or not)

If I have missed anything brake wise
your comments would be appreciated :thumb:

All sounds good to me...

No idea about the rubber though. Never tried them.

Nur Spec R... Do you have kids? Probably not the best zorst with kids frequently in the car as it sounds much louder in the back and I doubt it would be good for little ears....

Cheers for the feedback Bro.

Have a couple of kids, so looks like
it is just brakes/tyres :thumb:

I have a H&S full de-cat system and I reckon its only a tad louder then the standard effort.

Perfect for big and little ears..

I'd certainly want to try one first... The sound of the Blitz is awesome IMHO and second to none. Try and find someone local with a Blitz.

I didn't like the "look" regards the quality of the H&S systems I've seen. However, I know nothing about building zorsts. The Blitz seems so well put together compared to the H&S. RCM zorst also seem very good quality.

you been on the glue again?

i thought the welding on it was superb...and stainless isn't the easiest thing to stitch up either. Perfect fit and hangs exactly where the old one was too. Some of the more performance orientated ones hang on an angle to the left slightly to optimise gas flow.

As for the looks, the rear box I have is just a tad larger then the Prodrive stamped one, and has the same rolled outer edge too.

I tried a slash cut version and was too much for me.

As ever it is each to their own, I bet youtube has lots of sample noises for you to trawl through.

Like I said, I know nothing.... Putting the H&S next to the Blitz and I thought the Blitz "looked" much better quality.

But hey, Captain, lets not fall out again

Never seen the Blitz so would be wrong to comment, but I can say the Hayward and Scott is great. One of their systems has been on my Clio for over 6 years now without any issues at all.

RCM looks good but crikey it is pricey!

captain never falls out with anybody....well not yet anyway!! off to an old wooden cottage this weekend for the midsummer break. All cooking is done via BBQ...

come hit me with a mean marinade recipe!! Steak and ribs, preferred meat.

Sounds like you have a fun few days ahead of you...

Steak - I only buy top quality steak so I would never marinate it.

Ribs - simple, olive oil, crushed garlic, chopped chilli, tomatoe ketchup, molasses (sp), english mustard. Job done. Ribs are all about the cooking!! Long and slow.

Proper open fire cooking is even more fun....

Always wanted to dig a hole, light a massive fire and cook some rocks before filling hole with a whole deer and covering with soil and leaving to slow cook for a few hours. Mmmmm I'm turning myself on.
