Cambelt change

Postby Bonovox » Thu Sep 11, 2008 9:12 am

I am looking at a few WR1s with lowish miles, one has done 17k and the other 19k, neither seem to have had a cambelt done though.
Is that okay because of the lower miles or should it be changed after 4 years? Any idea what would it cost to change? (what are the svs intervals anyway?)

Personally I would be ensuring that you see a Full Service History with any back up invoices for any changes made/works carried out. I personally would want to see Subaru dealer services (stamps) atleast whilst it was under manufacture warranty period. Generally the cam belts are recommend for replacing after 5 years or 50k miles.

The service book should be a good clue as to how car has been maintained. Also see if the current owner has continued to pay for the warranty.

You may want to also carry out a HPI check to see whether car has ever had an insurance claim, stolen etc.....

Tyre wear should be a good sign of the way it's been cared for. :thumb:

I doubt if any seller would be prepared to have the camb belt changed before selling it particularly if it is with such low milage.

Not if new tyres have been fitted !

If the car has had a hard life and the tyres show it, if it were me I'd put a new set on !

mate, i wouldn't worry about it. Take it that it was not meant for you. Am sure there'll be another one soon. Have you looked at the Top Marques website? That's where i saw mine.

Besides you can still go for the "75" year olds to make up for the lost wr1.....plenty of em about for sure....you may even pick up to for the price of one!

Stop calling me 'man' You sound like you are trying to be a with it backwards baseball cap wearing homie, but we all you know you are a gay accountant.

Stop Pm'ing me incessantly, unless it's for a genuine reason, or you want some help. It really is not important to you 'how i am'. You need to get over that part of your life and make proper friends, like a normal well adjusted male would

Stop calling me 'mate' in these PM's. I am not your mate, i have never met or spoken to you. You are merely an internet aquaintance and a rather odd one at that.
