apexi avcr

Postby GARETH BALDWIN » Sat Aug 30, 2008 6:06 pm

hello, i am having an apexi avcr boost controller fitted in a couple of weeks, is this a good idea? i am aiming to have the settings set at almost zero boost and the other at super boost! the aim is to save fuel and give me piece of mind when the mrs drives it, also power gains. has anyone else got one?

Yep - got one and love it.

You have effectively 3 settings:

1 - Off (runs actuator pressure only so low boost)
2 - medium boost
3 - high boost

cheers dynamix, i take it you have it on a wr1? also if its "off" and running actuator boost, is that the standard boost which produces the 321bhp, and what sort of power gains does it produce?

Mine isnt on a WR1 - mine is an 06 STi

The off setting would not be the 321bhp - that requires more boost than actuator pressure.

You need to get it mapped with the avcr on there else you will end up doing serious damage. Upping the boost is not the main consideration.

the car is standard, at the moment. they recon about £700ish, but they are doing diagnostic work to try and see why it runs a bit jerky, i am hoping its just a knackered sensor. its booked in on the 17th i will let you know what happens. does anyone know what the standard boost pressure should be. i would guess about 1.5bar???

Standard boost for a wr1 is 1.4 bar.

Did i see somewhere that Wallace was recently taken over??? Have used them before for ordering brake pads & that & was always pleased with the service from them.

wr1 went into wallace performance today for avcr, i had some suprising news after the diag, the car has been remapped before! it was mapped to run on 95 ron fuel, this must be because the previous owner lived on the isle of lewis. it has now been remapped to run on v-power which i run it on anyway. i was pleased to learn that this means it has already had the licence paid for remapping so it only cost £170. wallace advised against having the avcr fitted now and is quoting for bigger turbo, injectors, avcr, full decat exhaust, panel air filter, and 50bhp nos!!! cant wait. :D russel at wallace performance really knows his stuff and i would recommend them to anybody near to aberdeen!
