AP 6 pot Brake Pads

Postby presa900 » Mon Jul 28, 2008 5:46 pm

Its time for some new pads, I've got the Ferrodo DS2500's at the moment, I did have some very slight intermitent judder under heavy braking at Silverstone last week, which was probably down to the level of wear left in the pads, otherwise they've performed very well.

I know there are thoughts that they leave a deposit on the disc and cause brake judder :?

Martin - what did you end up fitting to yours after the sarga with ASP and the pagids?

I've also seen Mintex quoted for around £100 a set....

I need something that will definately fit, as I need to get them on the car before the weekend, don't have time for any problems.

Andy got the pagids, took the old ds2500 pad marked out the size on the bottom arch of the pagid, got them cut to the same size with a band saw
for a few quid.

No squeals as yet done some heavy braking aswell.

£145 delivered from ASP.

Good to hear you got things sorted in the end...

I don't really have time to get pagids sorted....and now to make matters worse the Subaru dealer that has the car for service today recons that the discs need replacing too  :?

I would of thought the AP discs should last a lot longer than 23K miles. and its not as if the pads are so low that they've chewed the discs as they tell me there is still 1K left in them :?

AP discs when new are 32mm thick, the dealer informs me that mine are now 30.4mm thick so does anyone know if this means that they are worn out.

Gonna give RCM a call now and may call in there on the way home.

Dropped in at RCM and got Olly to look at the brakes. It seems they are about worn out and need changing and 23K miles is not an unusual mileage for them either.

So its booked in with RCM first thing Friday for new AP discs and DS2500 pads. Olly felt that the DS2500's were the best option and has never had any issues with them.

Was very tempted to get some 4 pots fitted to the rear whilst I am there on Friday but just can't stretch to another £1300 at the moment :(

I'm sure that RCM will do a good job, last thing you need is to be unsure about brakes at Spa/Ring!! :D Get the rears too. Do it
