knocking noise

when i start the car first thing in the morning at very low revs there's a distinctive knocking knoise from the engine. this is occuring when im just touching the throtal and fades as you accelerate>

any ideas???

Do you mean a knock? are you sure? Would the words 'ticking' or 'slapping' be a better description?

Does it go as the car warms up or just when you accelerate? If you leave the car ticking over for 5 minutes on your drive is it still there?

maybe you have a forged engine and just dont realise it :lol:

it gose after the engine is warm. its hard to explain but i would call it a knock.

it dosnt do it when ticking over.... but if i was to leave for 5 mins then drive it it would be gone.

So are you saying the only time it makes any noise is on cold start up, until you drive off? If so, it's nothing to worry about, just that clearances throughout the engine are all a bit sloppy when cold.

If you have a true knock, thats not good and will be there when warm as well.

nope it defo gose when warm....and yes it only dose it on start up.
my old sti used to do it too, but its just been bugging me. the car is sound when warm
