Just ordering one of the Blitz mirror drive mechanical boost gauges & got a couple of questions regarding fitting.

1. Where's the best place to plumb into for pressure reading? Is teeing into the pipe that goes onto the dump valve ok? or is there a better place?

2. Where's best to connect the wiring to for the electrical connection? Saw online instructions for fitting the subaru Lamco gauge & it had a connector that went into the stereo wiring but unsure if the blitz one will have this(i doubt it) I don't have any kind of test meter to check wiring so if someone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

My Defi is spliced into the small pipe coming from the dump valve but the technical genius otherwise known as Wr1 Bro says there is a better place

Cheers Dan i think that is the most common place but thats why i asked just to make sure, as you say i'm sure mark will keep me right(well i'm hoping so).

Our defi's plumbed into the same place also.

As for the electrical feed if constant live is required the stereo has this, but not sure which colour of the wire, also the clock does aswell.

But tbh MM is the best person to ask.

Did some looking about before posting here & did see someone mention taking a feed from the clock & if i mind right they said they took it from there as the wires were actually labelled going to the clock but no where else.

It's gonna go in a A pillar pod so would be easier wired nearer the wires in the steering cowel if anyone can help or point me to a link with wiring labelled it would be appreciated.

oops Sorry Gee. I saw this but forgot to reply...

IIRC both the red and the yellow wires are constant feed from the wiring at the back of the stereo. I'm 99% certain on that but it always pays to sling a multimeter over them.

It's not the ideal place to put the boost feed T'd into the dump valve line, but it seems to not cause any problems and it's the easiest to get to so go for it.

Maybe see if i can borrow a meter just to check. Where else would you recommend plumbing into? & how difficult would it be to fit? is there a spare nipple on the manifold or is that just on classics. If not dump valve pipe it'll be.

Spare Nipple is only on V5 onwards classics IIRC. Just stick it into the DV, the other place is somewhere i cant begin to describe behind the manifold.

They are not to bad to fit if you have a bit about you so i am sure you will be OK.

Ah i was right thinking it was just a classic thing then.

Fitted the boost gauge at the weekend, quite easy to do most fiddly bit was running the wires across to the stereo to get the connections.

Tried everywhere to get a 60mm pod but only found one on scoobyclinics website where it was priced at £45 then by the time you got to the checkout it was gonna cost £69!!!!! They don't add vat onto they're shown prices so that was added then they wanted £15 to deliver it so that was added taking it up to the £69!!! So sod them
Got a 52mm pod from Scoobyparts for £25 & widened the gauge hole with a dremmel, job done at a fraction of the price

Oh & i can't recommend www.scoobyparts.com highly enough Used them a few times now & their service is 1st class, each time i've ordered its only taken 2 days to be delivered & with very reasonable p&p, cost me £3.95 for pod, a set of piaa silicon wipers, & set of uprated dip beam bulbs compare that to scoobyclinic wanting 15 to deliver just a pod!!!

Nice one Gee, side pod looks great. Not sure on the position of the R-Vit though.

Yeah the quality of the pod is really good it fits like a glove, clips into dash & round the a-pillar. There's a screw comes with it to fix it to the pillar but i used double sided sticky stuff so there would be no holes left if i ever remove it.
