Axel stands

Postby WR1 Bro » Wed Jan 23, 2008 8:48 am

Where is the best place to position the axel stands at the rear of the car?

Pics would be useful.

The best advice I've had so far is follow the torsion bar (I think he called it that) from the rear wheel to its fixing on the chassis just under the passenger door. It attaches to the car with a bracket with three bolts. I'm guessing he suggested to put the axel stand either on the end of the bar or on the bracket.

Is this right?

I didn't think of calling DanR last night for a quick answer.

I'd be interested to see the answer to this.

Sorry bro!

Left my phone at work last night so did not get your message regarding this!

Thats the correct place. Just make sure the stands are just rearward of the bracket that mounts on the chassis. If you put them 1/2 way along the car has a tendancy to slide down the stands.

Chock the front wheels up if you dont already have the front up on the stands.

Dan would not have answered, he was in the garage fitting a new cambelt on his car last night. He mailed me asking which Rear light it wants gluing to.

By the way axel is the incorrect spelling. I believe that was a character played by Eddie Murphy in the Beverly hills cop series of motion pictures. Followed by Foley.

Axle is the correct spelling for your future reference.
