Origin B2 question

Postby chris » Thu Feb 10, 2005 6:27 pm

My home computer doesn't have the serial(?) port on it that the B2 plugs into for the updates.

Does anyone know if you can buy a cable that converts a serial plug into one of the many spare usb sockets i have on the computer? :?

Or any other ideas? :)

If you can't get a connector you should be able to connect straight to a modem. I upgraded from the B1 and still have the original modem. I've not tried it as my PC is old enough to still have a Serial Connector on the back.

Should work with any modem that has a serial port. Probably cheaper to get a modem than pay

Wrong! Buy an old PC if you're short of serial ports. New ones are the problem.

This will gradually die out as less and less things are sold with serial ports but for now the USB to serial port adaptors seem to solve most problems.
