Hi all,

My WR1 wheels are in for refurb and the only colour I know and available is generic 944 which I believe is a little too light.

Speedline & Subaru supplied info that code is PPG 226.662 Grigio Urano HWB which paint suppliers can't source. I see from previous threads on Scoobynet that Seat code LS7U/H2B has been used but I don't know if this is the bright flitter or the darker colour on the WR1 wheels.

Can't now get colour match as wheels stripped at refurbers and he will spray with 944 if no other info available.

Do a search the paint code for the wheels is on here somewhere.

Who are you using to refurb the wheels chiroman. Have you had a quote?

I'm using B.J.V.Engineering, who Spike, used but have run into problems.

I wanted them to use the official Speedline code PPG 226.662 Grigio Urano HWB. However, this is not obtainable by paint suppliers so I told them to use the paint code 944 which is a generic ref. obtained from this site.

This was a disaster, colour too light and luckily they made a poor job of the paintwork.

I returned the wheels to them and presently they have been re-stripped and are now awaiting new info from me re paint code.

But it's getting better. Matt at RCM is sending a WR1 wheel to Steve at SGM who will get colour matched and send me details. Only one snag now BJV use solvent based paint and the info I get will be for water based paint. If this is a problem with BJV I will ask for refund - £204 cash. take bare wheels to Pristine wheels in Woburn Sands near Bletchley who are ok with modern paints but a little more costly.

While this is going on David Williams at S.L.Corse (Speedline) is in touch with Italy to try and get a recognisable paintcode.

So my advice is get the mobile bloke round the corner to sort out your wheels. They will be filled but it's a lot easier.

I should also say these wheels are absolute sh*te as regards finish and durability. They cost an arm and leg and nowhere near as good as normal family saloon wheels. How many people in Vauxhall Vectras have to use Rimwax to preserve their precious alloys, but hey I'm old and cynical.

PS. How can I get my motor to pull from 1800rpm like the WRC boys, 700Newtonmetres and change up at 4500rpm, sounds like a turbo diesel.

Thanks for the Info chiroman. I have a tiny scuff on one wheel, not even sure if its worth having it refurbed or not.
