Anyone know if the dust caps are still readily available? If so, from where?
Some thieving "bleep" has hot-footed it away with mine.

think any tyre fitting place should have them in.

My take on ar*eholes who stoop to gutter level stealing / causing malicious damage to our cherished cars.............Gordon & his cabinet shouldn't be wasting time about deciding if he should call an election...............he should be bringing back capital punishment and broadcasting it live on the beeb at primetime!



I know it's only a set of dust caps & my heart goes out to the guys on the site who have had their cars TWOC.

I've "lost" one of mine...

Buy a set of the Prodrive ones that have a grub screw to lock it to the valve stem. The bast**ds will need to carry a 11 or 12mm spanner to take them off then. £14.95 from your local dealer.

I've known people have a lot of trouble with the Prodrive Caps! They can seize up causing the valve to brake when trying to remove them.

Grease them up before you put them on.

Lightly grease the thread of the valve before offering up the cap?

Yes. Copaslip would be ideal as it has a high melting point, but I'm sure others will put me right.

Personally I never had a problem with mine, but then again I take them of regulary to check tyre pressures.

It was just a cautionary note for the unsuspecting.

I hear if you smear copper grease on your brake disks they last longer too as it reduces the friction and consequently reduces the wear.

I don't grease ours and they've yet to never seized up, but have had trouble with the grub screw, so removed them altogher and tighten them so you need a spanner to remove.

You just need to remember to carry a tool

Same here, but the new ones are not as striking as the old ones !

They have change the Prodrive logo, where before it used to have a blue underline it is now silver.

I've had two sets nicked off mine; the second set being the Prodrive one's with the grub screw. The scum still forced them off. One tyre was down 10psi where they had loosened the valve in the rim forcing the caps off. I think it's kids taking them to put on their bikes. Have gone back to black plastic now..

I use the ones that keep an eye on tyre pressure. Doing a good job and no problems with 'exclusivity' of the limited run.

I have now had two sets nicked.

I now have black plastic.

My 9 year old daughter tells me all the boys in her class
bring in the caps they have nicked
Quite a collection i believe!!

The dust caps that come with the grub screws a mate of mine caught them stealing these!!....the little yobs were using Pliers to yank them off

I know its only dust caps but it does piss me off
