If I was thinking of getting cams fitted how easy is it to fit forged rods and piston sat the same time?

Totally different part of the engine mate. Cams come out the top with the engine in situ, rods and pistons require engine out and strip down.

Saying that, on some inline 4 engines you can remove the rods and pistons through the sump, not sure on an Evo though.

Wont bother with them then untill they blow a hole through the block

I thought the newer Evo's (VIII +) could handle 450bhp on the standard internals?

After some research Norris Designs say that the pistons fine to 550 on 9s but apparently the Rods are untested and anything over 420-450 should be changed.

so i wont bother (untill something bends)

Strange the standard pistons are tested to 550 and the rods are not. So someone re-built an engine with better rods, but left the standard pistons in...seems mad, as the pistons have to come out to replace the rods!

An independant tuner has carried out tests mostly on his own cars...thats the 550 mark.

As you sid reove one to do the other so for the price of pistons its hardly worth keeping them if you are replacing rods
