PUTTING INDUCTION KIT ON WITHOUT A REMAP

Postby wr1_impreza » Tue Sep 11, 2007 6:28 pm

what will happen if i put an induction kit on my WR1 and don't get it remaped?

a couple of years ago i put an induction kit on a bugeye sti without a remap and it went so much better and i never had any probs.

if it must have a remap can anyone recommend anyone good in the kent area? and if so do they visit with like a tune up van or is it that complicated that it has to go to them for example??.

thanks in advance guys.

Its difficult to say what will happen.

It will run leaner for sure, wether its enough to cause a meltdown is something you should consider very carefully.

You should really remap it. Ecutek is the way to go which is software to map your existing ECU. Its not a generic map, it is tailored to your car so it will have to be done by a mapper on a rolling road, or the better option is on the road. You are loking at around £650.

I can recommend Bob Rawle in Swindon, i would not hesitate to use Andy Forrest if i was in scotland. Zak at mocom racing is getting a lot of praise (although i have not used him personally) and he is in essex. I also believe Simon Roe (Jolly green monster) is down your way.

Your standard airbox is pretty efficient up to and beyond 360 BHP. You will make minor gains by putting an induction kit on still using the standard turbo.

I cant personally recommend this fella. What i would say is these guys are not like the home tuning vans. It's a very skilled job and you should pick wisely. NOT because he is local to you.

Bob Rawle is one of the most experienced and respected Ecutek mappers around. its your WR1, It should be your pride and joy so would you really give it to someone who you don't know without finding out a bit more about him????

If you cant be arsed to drive maybe 100 miles to Swindon why have you bought a 'drivers' car?
