Geometry Printout

Postby presa900 » Tue Aug 07, 2007 10:04 pm

After finding that my front tyres had worn heavily on the inside edge,
the offside particularly badly, I have had two new tyres fitted and
had the geometry checked.

However, I have been told that there are no problems with the current
setup. I questionned the heavy wear but it was suugested to be hard
cornering rather than geometry setup. I find this hard to believe from
the type of wear on the tyre.

I have attached the tracking report below which by the looks of the
printout was carried out against a standard subaru setup. Firstly, should
the fact it has a prodrive suspension setup make any difference and
secondly can anyone understand these printouts :?

jeeesh mate - they are all over the place :o it must handle like a pig aswell as wearing the tyres out in no time at all.

You should take the car to a 3D Geometry expert company (pref one that specialises in subarus) like TSL, Powerstation, Mocom Racing and geet them to set it up properly.

It will save you a fortune in tyres and transform the handling of the car.

Great idea Presa. In future I'm going to scan and post alignment readings because they mean fractionally more than ziltch to me too.

RCM are hopefully doing mine next. Having said that, there is a theory that the measurements can be slightly unrealistic owing to the variablity in the connecting components?

Mine is currently set at:

Front

Camber: 2.5 Degrees Negative
Toe: marginal toe out (helps initial turn in but makes it tramline slightly on normal roads)
Caster: 5.5 Degrees positive

both sides are equal on all aspects

Rear:

Camber: 1 1/4 Degrees Negative
Toe: marginal toe out (can help the back end come out more to allow for on-power oversteer)

Ride height has been adjusted but not settled on final settings yet.

Cheers for the input dynamix much appreciated, the figures as Bro says didn't mean much to me

The tyre wear was consistant across the whole tyre with the exception of the last inch of heavy wear, this was after 12,000 miles and the rest of the tyre probably had a further 2000 miles left on it.

Any chance you can provide an explanation for some of the angles listed, I never realised the scoob ran on casters

The measurements do seem very precise, I can't believe the settings remain that accurately set up for long :?

I, like Bro, will be taking it to RCM within the next week or so to get a proper setup ready for Silverstone :thumb:

some more info here:

http://www.ybapublications.co.uk/shortc ... _wheel.htm

The settings do stay pretty much the same unless you hit a lot of kerbs and precise is good as every little bit makes a big difference. :)

WTf is that about ...I take it they did some adjustment somewhere.

If you paid for that Pressa go back and get your money

I've got exe-tc set up

The cambers on the front are -0.20 to -0.25 rears are -0.10 to -0.15
The front/rear toe is -0.10. The caster are non adjustable standard fitment.

The Prodrive lowering spring which the WR1 has, has it's own set up aside from a standard STI, RCM will know this but your normal run of the mill garage will probably not, so they have probably set your WR1 to STI settings :?

They had proper 3d laser 4 wheel alignment equipment, so I assumed they knew what they were doing
