went to the States for 2 weeks and left the WR1 with the the parking peeps at Gatwick Car Parks ( you drop the car off at dept and they arrive at Arrivals with your car ) great service ""



BUT!!!

after 2 weeks of the wr1 being stood still the brakes were really bad, it took 100 mile for them to sort themselves out !!!

when collecting the wr1 the brake were awful, they vibrated and binded, so bad i stopped in the slip lane on the M25 cursing at the WR1.

The rear boot spoiler shook up and down every time i braked, it seemed that a disc was really warped.

But after 100 mile it slowley got better.

Has anyone else had this problem ???

Also im back to the windscreen peeps as the seal has come off at the high point of the windscreen and is flapping about.


It really makes me feel that i should have bought a Bimmer or a Audi

But then i hit the back lanes near home

Sounds like rust on the discs, esp where the pads are covering the disc creating the juddering effect, was it wet and had they salted the roads before you parked up? This happens to mine alot!!! BMW, Audi or Subaru makes no difference.

Silly question, did it start ok as it had been left for a couple of weeks?

My brakes make a noise if the car's been put away wet and not used for a while.

Get the same thing if the car is parked up when wet.
It's bad after a weekend of no use so can imagine 2 weeks causing a few problems.
Like Ant said I assume it's rust.

As you didn't mention problems starting the car I assume it was ok.

Brian man.......... I had one car with these fancy brakes, that all I did was wash it and then left it for a few days. I went to pull away and the bloody brakes had literally seezed up!!! I had to drive ( or rock it ) back `n forth on the spot with the wheels locked up for about 5 minutes until they worked free!

I think like Auntie Ant says, it`s common on all cars with this brake set-up

I've now stopped using the handbrake whilst the car's in the garage and that seems to help.

Hmmmm.... Not sure my garage floor is totally level. Best to keep using the handbrake

You could leave it in gear, that's what i do, although my floor is level.

A perfectly sound idea but I'm sure i'd forget one day and either drive into the garage wall or run over the cat

yep i think the roads where wet and salted before it was parked up,

I didnt collect the car as i was using the Valat service at Gatwick, where a man takes you car from deptartures and then brings it back on arrival, its a great service and i reccommend it.

It took 120 miles for the brakes to get back to normal !!!!

I also use that method Christopher. The front pads still stick though if they're wet when I put it away.

LOL Chris it was only a few tenners more than the bus it in option,

Even got it Valletted inside and out as well, so it was like being given a new WR1 on arrival to Gatwick, What a welcome sight it was as well.

Unitll the chap said the brakes are not very good !!

It was so bad i tested out 3 emergency stops on the Hard should to convince myself it would stop in a emergency.

I was so close to phoning the AA to get it onto a lowloader and back to the dealers.
