hayward and scott centre section

Postby pav » Sun Aug 05, 2007 8:56 am

I'm about to order a new hayward and scott centre section to free up some flat four rumble. Been on their website, is it the straight through centre section or the new age cat pipe i need? think i may have read the 1 doesn't have a 2nd/3rd cat. so that would rule out the cat replacement pipe. would check myself but i'm offshore. want to order it today so i have it for when i'm home. sorry for the long winded question

many thanks

Hi matey,

You currently have a straight through centre section the "cat" you can see under the car is just a shroud bolted over the pipe - to make it look like you have one.

I got my exhaust from hayward and Scott and unless you do the downpipe and centre there is no point.

You may well need a re-map and definatley a CEL fix(sstops your check engine light coming on) - If you collect from H&S they fit for free and can send you around the corner for the CEL fix - cost about
Crash bang wollop!!

Plus for more noise, perhaps a back box to release the rumble
There a few have back boxes, but keep the cat downpipe.
NurSpec, Blitz etc !

Link below may help

Thanks for that guys. Once again your knowledge is very helpful. My mate has the nur spec on his Skyline, I really don't think my neighbours would approve!! I am planning on the de-cat when i get my APS FMIC and CAIK. so I'll just wait. All going well this will be within the next 6 weeks. Who do you guys recommend for the work? Andy Forrest is basically on my doorstep, the other option being RCM?

If cost is a issue then Andy Forrest will do you proud no doubt.
Or fit yourself and get af to map

If you want quality to detail, then rcm is the place to go 8)

The only downside to a 3" decat is the turbo surge you will get :?
annoying but it can driven to suit so it does'nt happen to frequently
To get rid of the surge a bigger turbo is needed 8)

We've already got the decat aps 3" system, turbo, caik, and tmic plus
other bits  fmic beckons shortly
