Squeeling Brakes

Spent two hours tonight removing all four sets of pads to check for trapped debris.......to find nothing

I have been experiencing substantial brake squeel recently under light and medium braking once the brakes are warmed, and even a low level worn pad grinding sound at times.

The car has only done 10K miles, the rear brembos have Ferodo DS2500 pads with plenty of wear left, and the 6 Pot AP's on the front have plenty of wear left on them also. Couldn't find anything trapped anywhere

Gave everything a good clean, will have to see if its cured in the am, but expect not.

Anyone got any suggestions or ideas

Have you put Copperslip (or similar) on the rear of the pads as this should do the trick?

have you put copper grease (copaslip) on the backs of the pads and on the areas of the disc where it mounts on to the hub. I know this sounds silly and you'd think it wouldn't help to stop any squealing, but try it - you might be surprised

(fairly obvious point - be very careful not to get any grease on the braking surfaces of the pads or discs, and if you do clean it off asap with thinner, white spirit or something similar)

also next time you have the pads off, try roughing up their braking surface with some wet/dry paper

haha - yes it is, it also smells amazing - you used to be able to get a big pot of the stuff from halfords-their own stuff, its amazing!

Cheers for the info guys, can't get my head round putting it on the rear of the pads, but hey I'm game to try anything that might sort it.

Gonna try roughing the pad slightly also, they did seem to have a polished feel

On another note, I was surprised that the pins on the AP's did not have a security pin through them like the brembos to stop them from dropping out on their own Will be regularly checking them from now on

Brake squeal generally is dust oscillating/vibrating at a certain pitch and giving you the awful noise akin to nails on a blackboard.

Coppaslip (spelt it right this time ) effectively helps to alleviate this problem. I

you are right, it works, but as for a technical explanation i don't have a clue.

I feel its one for (in no particular order) DanR55 or WR1 Bro. If Spike "THE LEGEND" Mike XXX comments take it with a pinch of salt though as he spouts a right load of old clobber.
