Bad batch of oil?

I had the car serviced last week and I noticed the oil pressure is lower than normal. The oil pressure usually sits around 3 BAR on idle, when the oil temp is about 95 degrees. Now it's closer to 2 BAR.

When the car's cold and I start up the pressure hits 6 BAR compared to the usual 7 BAR.

I'm going to change the oil to play safe, in case the oils fooked. Any tips for changing oil? I heard your supposed to crank the engine over with the crank sensor disconnected so the engine can build pressure without starting?

Cheers

Anders

You will obviously get a differing pressure if you change grade, i.e 15/50 will give you a higher pressure at start up than 10/40.

You can also get a difference between manufacturers, I get 0.5 bar more on 15/50 motul than i do on 15/50 Silkolene! :?

Prefill the filter, disconnect the crank sensor, wind it over till you get good pressure on the defis and the oil light is back on then connect the sensor and fire her up.

I'm using the same Mobil 1 15/50 that I've always used. That's why I was suspiscious when I saw the lower pressure. I'm going to pick up an oil filter and sump gasket on Thursday. If I don't made too much mess, I might change the oil between services too.

Sounds like whoever serviced it kept your decent oil for themselves and put in any old crap in it that they had in the workshop, just a thought!!!

That's a scary thought...they have GTX Magnatec on the counter

I doubt they would do that though, now the cars just about out of warranty they will want to keep my custom.
