3 port boost solenoid

Postby jd » Fri Jan 27, 2006 3:52 pm

Why would this be needed?

There are two schools of thought on this.

1) Three port allows the turbo boost to be controlled and released quicker and hence safer to run a higher peak turbo boost.

2) Not worth it as the ECU in the event of problems will retard the ignition.

ScoobyDan can add more to this.

Well above my brain but that is all I can remember!

As you all know... I do not profess to be technical in the slightest!! DISCLAIMER!

IIRC the WR1 is the only uk scoob to have one as standard.

Judging by your pic you have a SI8? if you are decatting/mapping - speak to your mapper about wether its required.

They do give better boost control, the only question is does your spec warrant it?

I asked Prosport about this and basically they said they would fit me one when I have a remap if I wanted them to but said I would gain very little from it. If a mapper insists on fitting one maybe his mapping skills aren't as good as they might be

Probably depends on how far you are going with the mods.
