thud from rear of car

Postby Dayo » Sun Sep 08, 2013 7:02 pm

hi iv got a wr1, running 335bhp, full decat and remap.

i have an issue while booting it, but im not sure what it really is.

for example, drive along at 10mph in 2nd gear, floor it, and when it gets to round about full boost it does a kind of thud. im not sure whether its a boost issue, 1 quick misfire or rear diff issue?

it sounds and feels like its from the back end.

it only does it the once, then its fine through the rest of the gears while booting it.

it feels like a bang from the rear, and you can proper feel it!

its worrying me, and i hope someone has had this problem and can help me!

thanks in advance!

Yeah all gears. Which ever gear you start flooring it in, then its fine through the rest!

Mine did something very similar, when. It was under load mostly in second gear it made a horrible clunk or thud

Have you fitted new tyres in the last few months?

Mine was caused by the tyres being slightly different, I had Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 on the front and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 1s on the rear,

it was fine for a while then it just started to clonk only when it was under load ie on full torque and boost in the end I had to have the centre diff replaced by RCM,

Iv got pirellis on all round. The front 2 are brand new and the rears are half worn.

Surely they will be ok?
