In heavy rain I'm getting a leak in the boot that looks to be coming in the left hand corner, now my mat smells as damp as a tramps y fronts

Come the better weather I will be checking the spoiler screws, the seals round the tail light and the boot seal to find out where the leak is but what I'm not sure of is what sealant should I apply if and when I find the leak? Some forums say rtv sealant others say not to use silicone sealant and to use Carafax Caravan Mastic Sealant ? Anybody done this fix before?

Is it clean or dirty water?

Clean water may indicate boot seals, rear window seal, spoiler mounting points etc?

Dirty water may indicate inner wheel arch or body sealing compound around arch has failed?

It's clean water, pretty sure it's coming from the left hand corner of the boot seal or the passenger tail light seal. Just have to get the right sealant before I go exploring.

I've had this leak too occasionally over the years. My drive slopes down towards the house and if car is parked with the front lower than the boot this is when it happens. I avoid parking that way round. OK all other times.

Known issue is the sealant wears away around the screws/bolts that hold the rear spoiler in place. As such water stands under it and drips in and you can get two puddle in your boot as a result. A dealer or specialist will be able to reseal it for you.

hi mate i had the same problem every time i washed the car or it rained the boot filled up with water if you take the back lights off its the seals behind the lights .i think there are three screws to undo get the seals from subaru ten min job
