Air Con Pump

Does anyone know if its OK to run the engine if the air con pump has had its pressure removed.
I was swapping out various nuts and bolts in the engine bay for new shiny ones and decided I would remove the one that holds the top pipe onto the air con pump. Rather stupid in hindsight and to cut an embarrassing story short the pipe unsurprisingly broke its seal, with the result of lots of air con gas escaping very quickly.
Anyway, will I be OK to run the engine up or not.
Awaiting sarcastic comments and hopefully some helpful ones!!

You should be OK to run the car with the aircon degassed as they can lose gas themselves over time. Just dont expect to get cool when the OAT is warm. A regas is about £30 to £50 squid.

hi carl you can run the car you will not have a problem as long as you do not put the air con on as you will seize the compressor the gas has a lubricant in it

you wont be able to run it with no gas as they have a safety cut-out on them..........

no pressure, no pump
