Key fobs don't work!!
Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody has had any issues with the remote key fobs suddenly not working! Opened car manually with alarm sounding but 4 digit number on keypad also failed to operate the alarm and immobiliser!! Manual says could be the car battery, but would this have had a warning light on my last journey? Anybody have any advice? Cheers Paul
Tracker can drain battery, has it been left standing for a while? The battery doesn't charge unless there is a load on the car, i.e. side lights switched on.... it's an "intelligent" charging system so it may be that the battery hasn't been getting charged if it's been driving around for a while with no load.
The battery light should come on, I'd agree. I always kept mine on trickle charge to ensure it was tip top as I had a dead battery once and had similar issues to what you described (although I had a random beep from the alarm to warn me of a low battery charge...) If it was just the key fob battery then the keypad would have over ridden the alarm?! Does sound like a main battery issue. [Just incase this gets lost in translation, I am not slandering you, I know people can be sensitive to these harsh words.]
Had the rac attach booster to battery but no change. I have original 4 digit but can't be sure if a previous owner has not changed it!
Have new key fob batteries to try tomorrow, if no joy, get the car towed back home. Been quoted £330 for replacement alarm system. Sound good price?
I'm no expert on alarm systems but I'd just check the specs on here with someone who may know a lot more than me! £330 - is that for the alarm and fitting as that sounds cheap if it's a Cat 1 alarm?

Yeah that's with autolec, cat 1 approved, mobile service. Full replace of unit. I may have no other options!!!
Subaru not much help as expected!!! Have new keyfob batteries and will charge car battery tomorrow.
you can reset the 4 digit code,
dont pull out the alarm for no reason 
there is a thread on here, if not I will try to dig out the instructions, pm me Nobody told me it was this brutal !
Well, car now home safe in my garage via a very slow and noisy tow by rac!!
Still no joy with keys or code with new batteries! No keyfob or code can be used, anybody have any ideas of help? Options mobile alarm specialist or get towed to nearest Subaru specialist? Any advice or experience of either?! Paul

Hi,
I have searched for info, but all are dependant upon disarming the system, of which I can't do. Looking to have the alarm module replaced, just waiting for confirmation keys could then be programmed to suit new module. A very noisy repair coming up!
Hi all update of alarm problem!
Yesterday my spare key operated the alarm system, good news!! I then tried disarming with code with no joy. Assumption is code has been changed. Luckily, as I could disarm the system I managed to override the code with a generic code found on forums, then reprogrammed a new code, phew!! I have now managed to re-program both keys also, so with new batteries all fully functioning again. Moral of my pains? If your keys disarm the system, double you have the correct code. If not, change it before you can't if your keys become inoperative or lost!!! This should avoid the cost of a new alarm!!!! Paul

Nobody told me it was this brutal !
Yeah really useful once I could disarm the system.
