Replacing Vortex with standard exhaust. What about the map??

Hi guys, Sorry to be asking questions so early but im sure one of you guys will know.
In 3 weeks i pick up 481 which has an Afterburner Vortex backbox. Now i start work at 5 in the morning so without my neighours kicking off and the insurance rising im more than willing to return this to the standard backbox.

My issue is that the car has had a racedynamics map. What would happen if i
returned the system to standard??? Does it need remapping again??

Sorry for the daft questions but these cars are alllll new to me.

Hi Tom,
Is it just the back box that is changed or is it the full system?

If just a backbox i doubt a remap is required, if full system then its likely a remap will be needed.

thanks megaman. Im sure it is just a backbox so that will save a few pennies then. Just need to find a good quality standard backbox OR someone who fancies a swap

You could get in touch with Duncan Graeme of Racedynamix and chat with him re the mapping to reassure yourself. He may even know someone with rear box.

Yes Duncan will always help out but normally just a back box wont make much difference to a car whether its remapped or not from past experience.

hi tom i am having a full 3 inch rcm exhaust fitted to my 1 if you want the prodrive back box you can have it mate the only problem is i am waiting for olly to give me a date to have it done

Hi Dave, that would be brilliant. How much would you be looking for it?? Is it in good condition?

I need one before the 6th August you see so I can fit it the day I collect the car. Do you think it would be before then??

hi tom i do not want anything for it you can have it the only problem is i am waiting for olly at rcm to put the new one on and remap if i can get it done next week on my way back up north i will ring you and meet around junc 15/16 on the m6 if thats ok with you
