Are the WR1 tyres classed as extra load tyres?

Postby Smasher » Wed May 16, 2012 2:37 pm

Hi all,

Yep a few things have all worn out at a similar time, as you might have noticed from my other recent posts.

I am looking to replace the tyres, and when i search online entering 225 40 R18 Y speed rating all the tyres have XL meaning xtra load. I phoned my local fitter and said I would fit the as standard Pirelli PZero Nero tyres and they asked if it was Extra Load tyres, so this has left me confused.

any help much appreciated as always.

cheers.

I think I always get the extra load Pzero neros as I tend to put extra load on them when cornering fast

Cheers for that, it turns out that the code part at the end is the tyre loading, ie 225 40 R18 Z (92), the 92 is the loading, and this level of loading is in the XL category, so basically the XL is instead of the number, and our tyres are in this category.

cheers all.
