Key problems

Postby Steveyk » Mon Mar 26, 2012 5:20 pm

One of my keys has stopped working the remote locking. I've swapped the batteries over, but it still doesn't work and the other one does. I guess the key is knackered.

Anybody ever had to buy a new key?

Nah it just needs reprogamming. Take it to the local dealership and pay through the nose or there is a way of doing it yourself with the keypad and the pin code (supplied when you get the car from new) but if you stuff it up doing it yourself (read the manual) then the Subaru dealership MIGHT charge you a bundle, or not if they are nice..................Good luck

You will see from the link that it happened to me and having paid ONCE, they repropgrammed for free a second time when it went wrong again...........(It's a £100 job now)

WELL............ Since then it went again, Clearly the key had developed a fault in the circuit side of it so I spoke with Rob Ostle who works for Stan Palmer Subaru in Carlisle. He runs a highly modded Scooby and helps people every week on Facebook.
Not only did he post me the relevant pages from the manual about reprogramming yourself using the onboard keypad, but he arranged the purchase of a SIGMA REPAIR KIT which is HALF the key. Your other half has the battery in. The price is £44 plus VAT and following the destructions has worked very successfuly. You just need someone to read out the insructions whilst you're pressing the buttons !

RING HIM......... He's SO helpful........

Mention me !........... and let us know how you get on.
