After having to jump start my car with a flat battery a couple of times lately I've decided it's time for a new battery.

I'm just wondering if it's an easy DIY job, or does disconecting the battery mess with the alarm etc and bring up warning lights on the dash? or would I be better off getting a garage to do it?

Any recommendations for a new battery?

It should'nt cause any issue, I have had 3 battery in 7 years

No problems, I've had my battery out at least 3 times for a good charge.

only advice i'd offer is to make sure you disarm the alarm before disconnecting, this tends to prevent any potential issues when its put back on.........

I'm wondering if THIS is why I had problems with one of my keys after disconnecting for half an hour....Long story but the alarm was going off so disconnected--Made no difference of course as the back up battery took over. It was following day when key played up


SO... when you say 'disarm' can you define that.. Cheers.

Mine decided to throw a hissy fit last weekend!

Blipped open the doors got in and put key in ignition, and when I switched on the ignition the alarm when nuts!! nothing stopped it, not even the code on the pad lol!!

In the end I just used the key to lock it and left it until i could get a new battery from Halfords. went for the calcium battery at £95, and change it no problem. Always negative off first and on last, you shouldn't have any problems then.

When the new on was fitted I switched on the ignition, and turned off the immobiliser with the blipper. no problems since.

Note to all though - drive with your side lights on, it forces the alternator to work.
