Alignment sounds the most likely. I had the full set up when my car was last in for a service and was amazed how much it improved things. You ideally need a Subaru specialist or a decent alignment centre to do it for you. I would probably avoid the majority of the 'national chains'.

Thanks Crockel , Alignment is my first port of call then. I know a good local garage that does geometry testing.

Do the works on the wheels:

-balance all 4 wheels
-laser geometry 4wheel alignment
-tracking

should correct all your problems or at least highlight if there is a problem somewhere.

missed off my list to check tyres wear is even i.e. you havent got 4mm on one side and 7mm tred on the other side - makes a big difference if u have a puncture and stick a new one on

hi sounds more likely you have a worn bush or something loose allowing your wheel to pull forward under acceleration and fall back when you ease off .

I looked at the front bushes, off side did have very slight movement. will try geometry first, hopefully it will sort it, if not new bushes required.

Thanks Martin for the settings aswell.... 8)

Mike just remebered yoiu haver o.e. suspension, so best not use the geometry setting as severe, perhaps 1.5 on the front 1.0 on the rear

I remember seeing an email on this site somewhere from someone from Prodrive, to Subaru, with the correct and specific geometry settings for the WR1 - anyone know where it is - has a quick browse and not finding it...

I think that was Mega, and getting KT Green to confirm the geometry from Prodrive.

There are lots of different topics and each person has their own preference to the settings. IMHO the standard ones are not the best for out and out handling, not agressive enough on the front turn in for me.

i used the setting kindly supplied by mega,on standard set up and works good for me ,although the garage said because they were not the stred setting for an sti they could not garantee the wear on the tires ,but wear seems fine so far on mine :)
it is better to have had a wr1 and lost it than never to have one at all.

Mines going in for a service mid July.

What do you expect the cost to be for a full geometry set up, as per Mega's settings, would cost?

The price should be the same regardless of setting. They just keep tweaking until they hit the numbers you want.

However, stock suspension on fixed bolts might not give you enough room to play with, so they might have to put in some adjustable camber bolts. If you have coilovers with top mounts then they can play with these also.

Just to add to the confusion...these are my settings

Toe = 0 all round (it also stayed at 0 during spring compression testing too)
Front Camber = -2 degs 15 secs
Rear Camber = -1 degs 30 secs

A load more front camber than recommended but other than that it is the same all round. Gives a great turn in (to try get rid of the dreaded understeer) but can be a little twitchy when all you want to do is relax and cruise.

Feels great though when peddling hard.

I should imagine it will do yeah.

More than likely it won't be as per Mega's settings and defo not mine...so will require adjustment anyhow.

£65 is actually pretty reasonable, just make sure it is for the entire job, and not just per hour! 1 stuck nut, and your buggerd. Cue McTiddler's dogging comments!
