MOT fail - emissions

Postby Shane » Mon Apr 11, 2011 6:11 pm

I took my WR1 for its MOT today and it failed the fast idle emissions test. The garage seemed to think it could be to do with the fact I recently fitted a Green Cotton panel filter, so I've given them the standard filter to do the test again.
Does this seem like a likely reason for a fail?
Has anyone else had their WR1 fail an emissions test for any reason?

I'm a bit worried as to what could be wrong :(

Take it for spirited drive get it nice and hot and then get it tested.

The hotter the better.

it will have absoloutely nothing to do with a panel filter.........

as above, the sports cats are marginal at best and need to be up to temp before the test (which the MOT station are supposed to adhere to anyhows)

They re-tested it after taking it for a drive to heat it up and it passed, but only just apparently.

Thanks for the tips :)

the MOT tester should use a different setting for prodrive sports cats, my tester showed me the memo vosa sent them years ago, the car does not need a fast idle test
