extra bhp?As far as i know my wr1 is standard. i'm looking to push it up to around 400 bhp. wot stuff is easiest not always cheapest to change to get up around that mark?
i'm thinking its going to have to be around 100bhp? p.s having d2 front cals and discs with bc coilovers fitted friday can't wait that dreaded knock has started getting more and more!
A safe 400bhp be around £3 k (am I right guys?)
UK TURBO...SOLD
P1 976.....SOLD WR1 043.... SOLD M3 CAB (E46) ..SOLD EVO IX MR FQ-360 (running 410/430)
A simple de cat, air filter, fuel pump, good zorst system and remap will probably get you around the 360 bhp mark
Probably the cheapest option if you're not looking at spending too much. they are the common things to change anyway. UK TURBO...SOLD

not convinced it will give you that much...
360-400 is in new turbo and injectors territory also...so assuming it is bog standard then you are looking at 4k ish... more if you go and change ecu for Syvecs, Simtek etc.... but you can go for the LC and ALS add-ons here that a simple remap via EcuTek can't give you
Sorry to sound stupid but what sort of turbo would be an upgrade to the standard? also what size injectors?
Maybe from Fisher Price... Scooby Clinic charged an unnamed ex-individual on here £7k (I think... don't sue me though) to get to 397bhp Lets say pricewise.... Scooby Clinic ain't no RCM
A massive bin lid sized turbo and injectors large enough for a 1000 druggies
I would think 800cc would be plenty...strapped to a MD321T
Your best bet is to speak with any good mapper and tell him what you want and how much budget you have. Visit a few websites like Lateral or Andy F for some guides They will be the best ones to advise what makes the biggest difference you are after. Personally, I would (and have) spend your cash on the handling and upgrade the suspension, ARB's and brakes... you have a bit of grunt already so best learn to expoit the chassis before chasing numbers.
Wow really? £7k.... You may as well sell your WR1 and add that money towards a Evo MR FQ400 its cheaper (if that sort of thing floats your boat of course, it does me) P.S:- LOL at the Fisher price comment (actually made me laugh out loud) UK TURBO...SOLD

Just ignore John Mc Tiddler (Dogging Expert) as his name tells you everything you need to know Focus ST's rule!!!
If it was RCM then it would have been £14k Focus ST's rule!!!
if you really want to make easy power, then it is an Evo all the way and you've just bought the wrong car! As no doubt Sandy can chip in here...just a simple remap and a few shiny bits will make way more than any scoob would given the same mods. To be in the same ball park as an Evo, then you are talking an engine build for sure. Not sure about you, but I didn't buy this car just to chase bhp numbers...and it doesn't matter how much bhp you have there will always be somebody with more! Its how it drives and what you can get it to do IMO, and a few grand sorting the chassis first out will make all the difference...then you can start adding more power if it suits. No point having it if you can't handle it.
You are very welcome mate, anytime you want shit answers just ask a shit question As Andy says, no point in adding power until you can handle the power you have already. If you ask about turbos and injectors you'll just get a 1000 different answers and you'll be no nearer a decision! If you are going to go down that route, just go to a mapper with a wad of cash and ask him what he can do with your budget. I'd ignore what Fozzer says purely on the basis that he's Scottish.
That's correct. If you start with an Evo IX FQ-320 or 340 as the base vehicle, add an uprated fuel pump, slightly modified air intake and a 100/200 Cell Cat. (or none), a competent mapper will easily yield 375 to 400 PS (depending on torque / power delivery requirements). As for an FQ-360 (IX) - As 'standard' the map is a little uncontrolled and has dubious over-boost protection (which does make the power delivery hilariously 'sudden'). This car can be modified in the same way as the two 'lesser' models, but you will pay a small premium for base-line power figures and its engine/turbo will have had a harder life. That said, I didn't really get on with my old FQ-340 (IX)......so, your plan to develop the WR1 does seem appealing (although expensive) to me! Sold out and bought an EVO......then sold it because it was rubbish!
well I have just had reply back from Andy Forrest about getting my 1 mapped, he is quoting me £425+vat just for a map that takes the car to 340bhp with no changes to the hardware!
the following roadmap is based on the 265bhp cars but gives you an idea of what's needed for what, this is from Andys site... 01-05 STI 2.0 UK/EURO + 01/02 JDM STI /RA STD 265 BHP Level 1 300-330 bhp Sportscat exhaust from turbo back 2.5 or 3â€
Told you! Not as simple as you might think. Really need to swap out the turbo and pipe work to really make it worthwhile.
Stay to 400 and you'll be ok without major internal changes.
thanks boys this is all good stuff, helping alot. level four looking good thinking probably £5K. hopefully
I would think about replacing ecu at that level too if you can. Will add another £1200 ish but worthwhile just incase you get itchy fingers again. Plus you can add LC and ALS to make the most of your new toy and get all those horses working properly!
APS FMIC £1794
RCM 400 turbo £1554 RCM 3" decat exhaust £868 with center silencer £937 + fitting kit £50 RCMHeaders & up-pipe £594 RCM Ind kit £210 740 inj £690 255 walbro £75 NGK PFR 7B uprated spark plugs £60 Ecutek remap £500 (depending on who) £6494 not including fitting ! You could use RCM to fit these parts and they would probably only fit what they sell, tried and tested 100% RCM are a quality product, but some items may be sourced cheaper elsewhere, I tried Lateral and there aint a lot in it, I know they do reworked 660 inj for around £200-ish, instead of £690. Or try Adam autotechnica, he comes well recommended from several members from here. Seeing as your from South Wales Keith Rigby at Scoobyproject may be closer, he has built a good reputation http://www.scoobyprojects.co.uk/ 2007 BMW M5
2004 Petter Solberg STi
i used RCM i would say the finished product is very good but does come with a cost 425 bhp around the 14k mark

That is just ridiculous.
You could build a proper engine based on the EJ22 unit for that with all top notch parts inside and out. Easy see you into the high 500's if not 600's for that money! Stupid IMO
i was quoted nearer £25/30k to get anywhere near them figures, shame i didnt know that then but you live and learn 3/4k of that was ecu fmic & Service like anything always get it done cheaper some where else Regs
Geoff
well I have to say when I start going after more horses, I will be doing all the work myself! (with the exception of the mapping) will source the parts at the best price I can then fit them myself, I stripped my coswoth numerous times it's not rocket science!! The kind of fiqures being taked about here are crazy!
maybe we should start doing more work on our own cars, when we do a job take pictures and put a detailed account of what to expect pitfalls etc and over time the site will have a wealth of tech info that lets us have confidence to tacke a lot of the work ourselves instead of keeping a load of tuning shops very well off...
Well said, Focus ST's rule!!!
How are you with Pug 306DTurbos?
This should be for Bro......I've heard you are handy with a spanner
